It is inevitable that when you encounter God you will encounter satan. It happens in our thoughts where we think something positive and beneficial and a double mind will creep in. It happens when we go to forgive someone who has grieved us greatly and all of a sudden, the flashbacks of the pain they caused return more intense than ever.
Ying and yang, good and bad, light and dark, when one is experienced the opposite is right there if not close behind.
Encountering doesn't mean entertaining. You don't have to indulge and participate in the processes that don't better you. You don't have to participate and indulge in the operations that bring death to your soul, your spirit, your peace.
Remember that whole free will thing? Being a co-author over your life with God?
This is where you pick, sometimes uncomfortably, what you will entertain.
