This is the kind of fun we have when we host painting events at Brendan’s Ceramic Outlet. We get to play with fire and make ceramics look shiny :)

This is done through a process called raku.

Courtesy of Google- Raku is a fast-firing ceramic technique where pottery is removed from a kiln while red-hot, then placed into a container with combustible materials (like sawdust or paper) to create a reduction atmosphere. This reduction—the absence of oxygen—creates unique, unpredictable metallic lusters, smoky patterns, and crackle glazes.
