17th Circuit Therapy Dog Volunteers Inc. Learn about the 17th Circuit Therapy Dog Volunteers, Inc, the dogs and the great work they do for the Bruscato, Bella, and Bruce back in November 2013.

This program started with a meeting with States Attorney Joseph P. Our first case was in February 2014 with a client at Carrie Lynn Center. They worked with the States Attorney on the case, until the time came where the client was needed to testify in court. At that time Bella and Bruce comforted the child in court. The child was able to testify to the Judge she was able to make her Ruling. After their first time in court, they were there quite often. In December 2017, Bruce spoke to a group meeting with Chief Judge Joseph McGraw, after that meeting we were officially known as 17th Judicial Circuit Court Volunteer Therapy Dog Program. The group started to grow. Today we have 14 Dogs and 13 Handlers. In November of 2018 we saw a need to form a non-profit status for our therapy dog program. We are always looking for good handlers and therapy dogs to join our team.

Beautiful Daisy celebrates 10 years of therapy dog work today! Hundreds of facility visits and thousands of people she has brought smiles and comfort to, each and every one of them with a happy wag of her tail. From hospitals, nursing homes, courthouse, schools, libraries, community events and many other places, she has seen them all and has built a reputation around the area. She celebrated with grilled chicken from Chick-fil-a.

We had our annual Handler Training meeting last week. This is a great opportunity for everyone to get together and discuss past and upcoming visits, and brush up on training. This year, we also recognized 2 new members of the Century Club. Sharon Robertson and Dawn Pfluger logged over 100 visits each in 2025 to earn this special jacket thanking them for their dedication.
