ROOTED ASCENT WELLNESS is Supporting -> Project DigniWear: Supporting Girls with Dignity

This summer, I have the honor of traveling to Ghana 🇬🇭 through Norfolk State University’s Study Abroad Program, in partnership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (F.A.C.), to lead a global service initiative—Project DigniWear.

This initiative focuses on something many take for granted, but for many girls, it is a barrier to their education: menstrual care.

We are providing period underwear to girls at Abstawan School in Ghana, a sustainable solution that allows them to manage their cycles with dignity and stay in school without interruption.

In parts of Ghana, 1 in 10 girls miss school during their menstrual cycle due to lack of proper resources. Girls who remain in school are more likely to delay pregnancy and graduate, creating stronger futures.

While in Belize, we explored local flavors, connected with community business owners, and enjoyed a curated tasting experience at Premium Wines & Spirits. It wasn’t just about the drinks, it was about culture, hospitality, and understanding how local businesses thrive in a country surrounded by water, tourism, and tight-knit community.

This June, our Rooted Ascent Wellness family will experience one of Belize’s most iconic island gems — Caye Caulker, where the motto is simple: Go Slow.

And we will.

We’ll explore the island the true local way, by golf cart (because that’s the only way to get around 😉). Cruising sandy roads, stopping where we want, moving with intention and ease.

🇧🇿 Yesterday in Placencia… pure magic.

As we made our way back by boat from Placencia, Belize, the ocean surprised us with something unforgettable, a full pod of dolphins swimming right beside us.

Not in the distance.
Not for a quick second.
But gliding with us. Jumping. Playing. Moving in rhythm like they were escorting us home. 🐬

It was one of those moments where everyone went quiet… then laughter… then awe. Just deep gratitude for being present enough to witness it.

And here’s the beautiful part, this will be an experience for our group this summer in June. We were scouting out the trip, making sure every detail reflects adventure, joy, and connection.

Belize (annual trip) has a way of reminding you that when you slow down and move with intention, nature shows up.

Sea breeze. Open water. Dolphins beside the boat.
