Happy New Year from our Harmony Family to yours!

We celebrated early with a champagne toast happy hour! Our residents enjoyed an array of goodies with sparkling cider to help ring in the new year. Everyone had a wonderful time chatting and snacking as we prepare for 2026 to start.

What a beautiful surprise today! 🎻

The very talented granddaughter of one of our residents filled the living room with music during a special violin performance. What started as a performance for family quickly drew a crowd who were eager to listen to the beautiful music.

There’s “snow” place like Harmony at Oakbrooke! ❄️

Our happy hour today was extra holly and jolly after we received a visit from Santa! Our residents had so much fun getting their picture taken and sharing their Christmas wants- from money to a new husband.

Residents had so much fun touring the halls, soaking in all the gorgeous holiday decorations, and voting for their favorite doors. Our residents have showed up and showed out with the holiday spirit this year!

Dancing Our Way Into Holiday Cheer! 🎄

Today, our resident got to enjoy a performance by ADB Dance Center in Chesapeake! Our residents loved watching the girls capture the spirit of the holidays through dance. We also loved the music trivia portion where our residents were able to win a holiday headband. Some of us even enjoyed their performance so much we had to do our own dance after!

Our Maintenance Director, Makao, traded in his toolbox for icing and gumdrops today! 🧰

There is nothing sweeter than seeing our residents laugh, create, and decorate gingerbread houses together. Our residents loved sharing storing of building the houses with family in years past and other holiday traditions. And of course, stealing a bite or two of gingerbread cookie!

Today in Harmony square, our wonderful residents finished decorating their Christmas tree. We had so much fun reminiscing on holiday decorating and other Christmas traditions while we hung the ornaments with care. Our residents did a beautiful job!

Did you know Snoopy has made more Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearances than any other character?

Known for his colorful costumes personas and mischief, Charlie Brown’s famous sidekick first appeared in the parade in 1968!

In honor of Snoopy, we had a “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” happy hour! In the popular cartoon, Snoopy fixed up popcorn, pretzels, and jellybeans, so we created our own twist with popcorn, pretzels, and m&ms! Our residents loved the snacks and homage to the classic comic strip character. 🦃

We are so thankful for our wonderful residents, families, and staff who make Harmony at Oakbrooke such a wonderful place to live. We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday surrounded by family and friends!

You’ve heard of pie ala mode, but have you heard of pie on the move?

Thank you so much to Archer from Trinity hospice for sharing these delicious pie cups with us! Our residents had a choice of apple or blueberry but apple was definitely a fan favorite! We loaded the cups up on a cart and spread joy and pie around the community to residents and staff alike. They were a huge hit!
