Watch from a safe distance and leave the lighting to trained professionals.

Corks can fly up to 50 mph! Point bottles away from yourself and others, and open slowly.
3️⃣ Use confetti cannons carefully

Handheld or air-powered poppers can cause eye injuries if used too close to others. Protect your eyes and enjoy a bright, safe start to the new year! 🥂🎆

Dr. Tom Edmonds MD completed his last day of patient care at Tidewater Eye Center’s today, marking the onset of his retirement. His distinguished 31-year career emphasized restoring vision within the community, as well as participating in multiple mission trips. We recognize the years he committed to our community and are pleased that he can now enjoy quality time with his family.

November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month.

People with diabetes have a higher risk of developing serious eye conditions—including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts.

🌟 Team VEC/TEC made a big impact at the 2025 American Academy of Optometry in Boston!

A huge congratulations to Drs. Sierra Tisdelle and Neha Srinivasan on earning their Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) — a prestigious distinction recognizing excellence and dedication to lifelong learning. 👏

Our team was busy sharing knowledge too! Drs. Amanda Eslinger and Rita Nguyen presented fascinating case posters, while Drs. Black, Rachon, and Whitley teamed up with Dr. Nora Lee Cothran for a rapid-fire lecture: Neuro vs. Glaucoma: You Make the Call.

It was also wonderful to reconnect with current and past ODs and residents. Special thanks to Jessica Schiffbauer and the Tarsus Medical Science team for hosting a fantastic scientific dinner exchange!

We also enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues, meeting industry partners, and exploring the beautiful city of Boston.
