Live music filled The Reserve at Greenbrier with a wonderful performance by Hampton Roads vocalist Ava Stevenson, accompanied by her father, guitarist Bryan Stevenson. Residents were even treated to a surprise opera number that brought the house down!

Live music does more than entertain—it boosts mood, reduces stress, and sparks memories, making moments like these even more meaningful for our community.
Experiences like this are just part of everyday life at The Reserve. Curious what it’s like to live here? Come see for yourself and schedule a tour today.

Some local leprechauns got together last week to decorate for Saint Patrick's Day, and we thought they were too cute not to share!

In all seriousness though, we always encourage our residents to join a committee while calling The Reserve home. It’s one of the best ways to connect, share ideas, and help shape the community we all enjoy. Whether it’s the Activities & Craft Committee (pictured here), the Resident Council, The Red Hat Society, or Prayer & Share, there’s always a meaningful way to get involved, make your voice heard, and build lasting friendships along the way.

After all, the heart of our community is the people who call it home.

Check out these pics from one of our favorite events… The Reserve’s Got Talent!

Residents took the stage to share their gifts with one another, and what followed was nothing short of inspiring. From beautiful singing and heartfelt original poetry to public speaking and guitar performances, the room was filled with incredible talent, courage, and creativity.

But what made the night truly special was the way our community showed up for one another. Every performance was met with cheers, applause, and encouragement—because that’s what a true community does. We celebrate each other.

Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that talent, passion, and creativity never fade with age. Our residents bring with them a lifetime of experiences, skills, and stories that make this community so rich.

It is truly a joy and a privilege to serve such remarkable people every single day.

Residents at The Reserve at Greenbrier recently had the opportunity to attend an incredibly informative seminar led by dementia educator Marcia Brodie of MarciaTrains.Com

During the session, residents learned the differences between normal aging and dementia, how to recognize early signs of dementia and, just as importantly, practical techniques for communicating with and supporting loved ones who may be experiencing memory changes. The discussion was thoughtful, empowering, and full of helpful tools that are simple and effective.

At The Reserve, we believe education is part of aging well. Providing opportunities like this helps ensure our residents have the knowledge and support they need to navigate life’s changes with dignity and grace.

Our Black History Month celebration at The Reserve was simply incredible.

From our award-winning local poet who had us hanging on every word, to the beautiful vocal performances that filled the room with soul — it was already special. But the true heart of the afternoon was our own residents sharing their personal stories. Honest, powerful, and unforgettable.

It wasn’t just a celebration of history. It was a celebration of lived experience, resilience, and community. We’re still talking about it!

February is American Heart Month — a time to focus on the little choices that make a big difference in keeping our hearts strong and healthy.

At The Reserve, heart health isn’t just something we talk about once a year — it’s part of how we live every single day. From movement to motivation, we’re committed to helping our residents thrive physically, socially, and spiritually.

A special thank you to our incredible in-house rehab partners at FOX Rehabilitation for the expertise, encouragement, and personalized support they provide to our residents. Having dedicated professionals right here in our community gives families peace of mind and residents the confidence to keep moving forward.

We’re also proud to offer fitness classes Monday through Friday lead by FOX as part of our complimentary activities' lineup. That’s right — regular opportunities to strengthen the heart, improve balance, build endurance, and have fun doing it are all included for residents of The Reserve.

Because living well means living actively. And that’s just another benefit of a life well lived at The Reserve.

At The Reserve at Greenbrier, we proudly follow the Sinceri Senior Living standards of activities, which focus on engaging the whole person through different pillars of health including cognitive and physical wellness. For active older adults, that means opportunities to move with purpose, think deeply, connect socially, and continue growing every single day.

Last week’s African American History Walking Museum was a beautiful example of those standards in action. Residents traveled from station to station throughout our clubhouse, learning about lesser-known African American trailblazers who helped shape our nation. The walking component encouraged movement and stamina, while the educational exhibits sparked memory, discussion, curiosity, and reflection — engaging both body and mind.

Moments like these are why we do what we do. Enrichment isn’t just about staying busy — it’s about staying vibrant, connected, and inspired. We’re proud to create experiences that honor history, celebrate culture, and keep our residents actively engaged in every sense of the word.

We are so excited to share our newest tradition at The Reserve at Greenbrier — The Director's Dinner!

Once a month, a small group of residents is invited to enjoy a three-course, home-cooked meal alongside our Resident Experience Director and a special member of our management team. It’s an evening filled with great food, meaningful conversation, laughter, and connection.

Last month, Our Business Office Director, Angie Brown, joined us and tonight, our Executive Director, Jenny Mulligan, graced us as our guest of honor, and both events were deliciously fun! From the first course to dessert, the table was full of stories, smiles, and the kind of fellowship that makes our community feel like family.

Traditions like this remind us that connection is just as important as cuisine. We can’t wait for next month’s seat at the table!
