Drs Correale and Bevilacqua have both received their first COVID 19 vaccinations and several of their staff are being vaccinated in the coming days. We feel extremely blessed. We will continue our current COVID 19 precautions for all of our patients.

Covid toes! Have you heard about this skin finding and it’s possible relationship to COVID 19? These patients all presented with tender purple red discoloration on their toes, a rash resembling a condition called Pernio which is normally seen in association with exposure to cold and damp conditions.
Recently, this finding has been seen frequently in young, healthy, often asymptomatic patients without any recent cold exposure.
If this is related to COVID 19, the proposed theory is that young patients with a robust immune response to the virus are getting microangiopathic inflammation, resulting in these skin findings.
We do not know for certain yet if this is indeed the case.
What should you do if you notice this?
1. Don’t panic.
2. Continue to practice social distancing in case you have or have recently had COVID.
3. Consider antibody testing to look for recent exposure to the virus.
4. Call a Board Certified Dermatologist. We are collecting a registry of patients with this and other skin findings.
These are patients of mine who were all reported to the American Academy of Dermatology registry.
