Starting today you can dial 988 for su***de and crisis support.

Beginning today, Chester County has moved to “988” as the direct phone support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress.

We are also seeking feedback to better inform the County’s crisis care system:

1. Youth Mental Health Survey for parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, health professionals, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, young people. Take the survey at chesco.org/5172/Youth-Mental-Health-Survey.

2. Adult Mental Health Survey for individuals who recently experienced the mental health crisis response system, members of law enforcement, EMS personnel, homeless providers, health professionals and others. Take the survey at chesco.org/5173/Adult-Mental-Health-Survey.

Mental health is an important part of overall health. Currently, many mental health care providers offer phone- or web-based appointments as alternatives to in-person visits. Ask your health care provider if these alternatives may be an option for you. Your primary care provider is also a good place to start. For those with mental illnesses, be sure to continue your treatment regimens. And, reach out to friends and family for support, virtually if necessary.
