Important Message to the Chester Community:
The Chester First Aid Squad (CFAS), which has provided all-volunteer emergency medical services free of charge to our community for 80 years, is facing a proposed shift from a municipally-funded model to a billing model by the Chester Township Council.
This proposed change would force CFAS to abandon our long-standing no-fee tradition and become a fee-based agency that would bill your insurance for emergency care, something that goes against our core values and mission. It would also impose operational restrictions that could limit our volunteersโ ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Despite trends of declining volunteer rescue squads statewide, CFAS would like to emphasize that we are a thriving, vibrant, and committed team of volunteers who train rigorously, respond compassionately and take immense pride in serving Chester.
CFAS values its 80-year proven volunteer model and is engaging in further discussions with Township officials to ensure the best outcome for the community. We reaffirm our dedication to maintaining compassionate, skilled emergency care for Chester residents.
We will provide updates as discussions with the Township develop. Click here to read our detailed statement:
