Many meniscus tear surgery patients are surprised to find a year or more later that they are, once again, experiencing knee pain. In 95% of these surgeries, the torn part of the meniscus is simply removed and not repaired. The remaining, shortened miniscus is not a good shock absorber and continued force against the knee joints leads to more wear and tear - and pain.
