Why “Elephant Baby?!”

The name Elephant Baby was born from the beautiful symbolism found in elephant herds. Elephants are known for their deep bonds, wisdom, and collective care. When a mother elephant gives birth, the entire herd circles around her—protecting, supporting, and celebrating new life.

This image perfectly captures what we believe postpartum care should look like: a circle of strength, compassion, and unwavering support.

Just as elephant calves are nurtured by the whole herd, we believe every mother deserves a village that surrounds her with love and care. Elephant Baby is a reminder that none of us are meant to do this alone.

Elephant mothers carry their babies for nearly two years—the longest gestation of any land animal. This patience and endurance reflect the depth of care and time mothers need after birth.

In elephant herds, “aunties” help care for the babies, giving the mother time to rest and recover. Our postpartum providers embody that same spirit of shared care and teamwork.

At Elephant Baby, we’re more than a postpartum care agency—we spearhead a movement to restore the heart of motherhood. Every moment of service is an offering of love to Yah, a reflection of His compassion, and a declaration that His ways are still good, still holy, and still the path to life.

Over the weekend we got a chance to help a mom with getting her daughter’s bedroom in order.

She was so incredibly grateful 🙏🏾

One of the main reasons that moms don’t reach out for support is because they fear they might be judged!

It’s a no judgment zone over here because we understand a few things:

1️⃣ Sometimes life gets so busy that you just can’t keep up- on top of your work schedule, doctor’s appointments, meal planning, maintaining the home, managing the finances, school work, sports events and EVERYTHING else- you’re automatically responsible for the emotional and mental labor of EVERYONE in your household- the planning, the organizing, anticipating everyone’s needs….it’s a long list of responsibilities that never truly ends.

2️⃣ Your life has changed since becoming a mom. DRASTICALLY. It’s not like you lost your identity- you lost your autonomy- you no longer feel in control of your life and although your life centers around the needs of everyone around you, although you feel that every decision is dictated by others, although you feel you pour every ounce of energy into your family and those you love, you STILL feel like you just can’t keep up with all that you’re responsible for and that you’re FAILING.

3️⃣ You’re completely burnt out because you treat rest like a reward rather than a routine part of your day! It goes like this:

I’ll rest when the kitchen is clean”
I’ll take a break when the laundry is finished.”
“I’ll slow down when the kids are out of school”

We are working with a client who has been through ALOT and needed an extra set of hands to help keep things afloat. We will be providing consistent support over the next year and a half.

In just 4 hours we were able to:

🥊 Knock out over 7 loads of laundry 🧺
✨Clean her kitchen
✨Organize and declutter 2 main living spaces
✨Organize and declutter kids’ bedroom
✨Sweep + mop main living area 🧹
✨Organize her pantry

This isn’t just a service. What I’ve realized along the way is that the weight of our responsibility loads keeps us from the things we actually WANT to be doing as mothers and not only that, prevents us from being the mothers that we deeply desire to be.

Instead of unwinding with our children, we’re caught unloading the dishwasher.

Instead of catching up with the kids when they come home from school, we’re catching up with all the chores we weren’t able to tackle throughout the day.

We desire to CONNECT and be emotional present to those we love most, but instead find ourselves stressed, overwhelmed and never feeling like we’ve done enough around the house to have the space to “settle in.”

We feel guilty knowing that our children deserve more, but we aren’t giving them what they need and what we desire.

I’m 13 years into this thing called motherhood, and the cycle of not ever feeling “caught up” and being consumed with guilt for my inabilities consumed me as a mother for FAR TOO LONG.

But instead of getting caught in the lie of “I’m not doing enough” and “I’m not good enough,” I want to encourage you in getting the help that you need and deserve in order to show up as the mom that you were created to be.

You were NEVER meant to do this alone and we’ve got you!

Let’s talk about something that’s been heavy on my heart…
Somewhere along the way, our culture decided that postpartum care is a luxury—something only “certain” mothers deserve.

We’ve been conditioned to believe that if you can’t afford it, you just have to “tough it out.” That rest, nourishment, and support are extras instead of essentials.

But let’s be honest—since when did caring for mothers become optional?

I used to believe that if I wanted to make postpartum care accessible, I had to fit into the system. Keep it “neutral.” Stay quiet about faith. Offer what’s “marketable.”

But that’s the problem. The system was never built to serve mothers holistically—it was built to keep them surviving, not thriving.

At Elephant Baby, we’re flipping that narrative.
We believe postpartum care is a right, not a reward.
We believe mothers should be in the driver’s seat of their health, guided by biblical principles that honor rest, nourishment, and community.

We believe that when we empower mothers holistically—body, mind, and spirit—we’re not just serving families… we’re rebuilding the Kingdom.

This is what our Holistic Empowerment Framework is all about—teaching mothers to reclaim authority over their health, their healing, and their homes.

It’s time to shift the belief that postpartum care is a luxury.
It’s not. It’s sacred. It’s necessary. It’s Kingdom work.

Here’s the truth…
Postpartum care has become a luxury in a world that was designed to make mothers do it all alone. 💔
We’ve normalized exhaustion. We’ve glamorized “bouncing back.”
And we’ve forgotten that caring for mothers is holy work—not a privilege for the few who can afford it.
Every mother deserves rest. Every mother deserves nourishment. Every mother deserves a village.
We’re not waiting for the system to fix it.

As baby enters this lush and complex family dynamic, she becomes the full center of the elephant family's attention! Mom and calf remain closely connected as baby is kept under close watch, provided tenderness, comfort, devoted care and protection! The support provided from family female members is what strengthens baby's survival in the wild and keeps her thriving! It is our mission at Elephant Baby to serve and support you during those first weeks after baby is born so that you can properly HEAL and REST and BOND with your baby. At Elephant Baby we provide moms and families with postpartum doula services, home cleaning, postpartum counseling and so much more. We are dedicated to serving you.
