I always recommend to my clients to follow their body on what feels good during labor. But if you’re feeling exhausted or stuck as to what to do to in labor give these positions a try!

I’m often asked what my typical schedule 🗓️ looks like as a birth doula, so here’s an example of my month of July. There were seasons of my life where I had 4+ births a month but as a homeschool mama and student midwife I now take only 1-2 births a month (and schedule more time off) so I don’t get burnt out.

🗓️With each birth there are 2 prenatal visits (at least) with at least 1 postpartum visit. I go on call for my clients starting at 37 weeks and that sometimes lasts until 41-42 weeks.

🕐Some births I’m at for over 24 hours (rarely) and sometimes I’m at a birth for 2-3 hours (also rarely). I’d say typically I’m at a birth for around 8-12 hours. I do stay for about an hour or two after the baby has arrived.

1️⃣ Keep moving gently — walk, sway, rock on a birth ball.
2️⃣ Rest between contractions — this is your marathon warm-up.
3️⃣ Stay nourished & hydrated — your body is working hard.
