‘Tis the dang season for feeling under the weather 🤒🤧

One of the most common questions we get when our clients aren’t feeling their best is whether should they eat or not eat.

And although there are a lot of factors that play into how we answer this question, we generally encourage clients to eat what they can stomach and what sounds appealing to them. Even though it can almost feel like a chore to eat when you’re not feeling well, sometimes eating SOMETHING is better than nothing to help fuel your recovery.

However, there’s no definitive answer as to whether you should or should not eat when you’re sick and what is better, so do what feels best to you at the moment.

The bottom line when you’re feeling under the weather is eat what sounds appetizing, focus on sleep, hydration, and nourishment, and do what you can to make yourself feel better.

If you’ve been battling a cold or sickness, swipe through today’s post to learn how we encourage our clients to navigate their nutrition when they’re sick.

We hope this helps you!

Happy 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ everyone!

New Year usually entails a time of reflection for most people on the previous year and provides an opportunity to set new goals, intentions, or even themes heading into the new one.

For some, this even looks like setting New Year’s resolutions. Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for using the hype and excitement behind New Year’s resolutions to get the ball rolling on certain goals and/or habits. However, the “hype” usually wears off a few weeks into the new year and/or the resolutions people tend to set aren’t specific enough or adaptable enough to allow some room for versatility because let’s face it…life happens.

Maybe your New Year’s resolution is to eat better.

But what does that ACTUALLY mean to you?

Does it mean building a better relationship with food?

Does it mean learning how to eat enough food to support your needs?

Does it mean eating to fuel your performance in the gym?

You can see how not having specific goals and just having vague resolutions can mean many different things thus making it harder for you to execute your goals or even know if you achieved those goals in the first place by the time December 31st rolls around.

In our professional experience and how we approach goal setting with our clients here at Clar-e-ty is, the more specific and realistic you can be, the better off you’ll be on the ex*****on front when it comes to achieving your goals in the long and short-term.

So we thought it was only fitting that our first graphic post of the new year be tips for how you may set, redirect, and execute your 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ goals.

If you’re someone who feels like you struggle with the “follow through” portion of setting goals, start swiping! We hope this post helps you achieve or work toward your goals more effectively in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣!

As New Year’s is rapidly approaching, so is the “quick fix,” purge my body of all the “bad” food I’ve been eating throughout the holidays, “go hard” January 1st mentality.

Setting New Year’s resolutions or intentions to prioritize your health, exercise more often, and eat “better” is great and all, but it can be unsustainable when we go all out or too hard too quickly. This is a one-way ticket to burning out before February.

And don’t get us wrong, the 30-day lose as much weight as quickly as possible challenge sounds all hunky dory, right? You only have to go hard for 30 days and then you’ll achieve all your weight loss goals, right?

Not exactly.

Because what happens after your 30-day weight loss challenge is over?

Sure it might sound more appealing to sign up for a 30-day challenge and follow strict guidelines for a short period of time, but this is only going to produce short-term results if you’re unable to sustain the protocol long-term.

Although it may seem more daunting, taking the time to learn about nutrition, exercise, and how to build a better relationship with food and your body will set you up for success wayyyy past 30-days.

So let 2024 be the year you start building sustainable nutrition habits that will last you a lifetime and the year you set yourself up for success long-term, not just for 30 days.

Tis’ the season for holiday traveling and road trips 🚗 ✈️

Knowing that some of you will likely be headed out of town this weekend or will just be outside your normal routines, in general, we figured we’d offer up some tips for how you may tackle your nutrition while traveling for the holidays.

We get that traveling can be stressful when it comes to knowing how to set up your nutrition to support your goals, so we hope this post helps you figure out how you realistically want to structure your holiday nutrition!

What’s most important is that you ENJOY your holiday and then hop right back to your typical nutrition and fitness routine when you feel ready without guilt, resentment, remorse, or the need to punish yourself.

Safe travel to those heading out of town! We hope you enjoy your holiday however you’re choosing to spend it 💚❤️

Hydration in the colder weather months can be tricky if you’re someone who notices you’re not as inclined to drink fluids when the temperatures start to drop.

If this sounds like you, have no fear! We’ve laid out a few of our favorite cold-weather hydration tips in today’s post!

Most individuals should aim to consume AT LEAST 1/2 to 2/3 of their body weight in lbs in fluid oz. If you’re exercising, add 15oz of water/hour of exercise or rigorous activity. You can also use your urine color to assess your hydration levels. Aim for “sticky note yellow” and you’ll be good to go!

Stay tuned for some tips from Owner & Founder .claretynutrition for how to keep movement higher during the winter next week 😎🚶‍♀️

Underrated 👉 setting yourself up for success during the holidays 🎅🏻🎄

If you’ve been around for a while, you know we don’t promote the classic “restrict restrict restrict” during the holiday season.

We firmly believe that you CAN enjoy holidays and all the hustle and bustle that comes with it…without being stuck for eating salads all month long.

One way we do this with many of our 1:1 clients is by periodizing their nutrition plan so that come time for the holidays, we can enjoy a higher caloric intake.

Todays post is breaking down how we structure some periodization for our clients and what that looks like. It’s MUCH more involved than this post but can get the message across.

Enjoy and let us help you this holiday season!! Only 3 more weeks until 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣🫡
