✨ Team Member Tuesday! ✨

This week we are featuring Keisha, who is celebrating 3 years of service at Lucy Corr this July! 💙

As the Admissions Coordinator for our Healthcare Center, Keisha has truly elevated the admissions experience over the past few years. Working closely with her supervisor, she has helped ramp up admissions while ensuring we continue delivering the quality, resident-centered care Lucy Corr is known for.

Her office is more than just a workspace — it’s a safe place. Residents, families, staff, and community partners know they can step into Keisha’s office for guidance, wisdom, and support when navigating some of the most important (and sometimes difficult) chapters of their loved one’s lives.

Keisha’s calm demeanor instantly makes you feel at home. She is kind, passionate about her role, and a true catalyst for the compassionate, person-centered culture we strive for every day.

✨ Known for her favorite quote:
“Treat people like you would want to be treated.”

🎉 Fun Facts About Keisha:
• Avid UNC Tar Heels fan 🐏
• Loves playing pool in her spare time 🎱
• Enjoys hanging out with her kiddos 💕
• Big fan of live music and good vibes 🎶

Keisha, thank you for the heart, dedication, and warmth you bring to Lucy Corr. We are so grateful for you and the difference you make every single day! 💙

💙🍦 Happy Employee Appreciation Day! 🍦💙

Today we celebrated the incredible team that makes our community so special. To show our gratitude, the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Truck stopped by so staff could enjoy a sweet treat, and each team member received a goody bag as a small thank-you for all they do.

Every day, our team shows compassion, dedication, and heart in the care they provide and the work they do. We are so grateful for the people who make this such a wonderful place to live and work.

Thank you for everything you do — today and every day!

💙

🌟 Honoring a Remarkable Legacy of Generosity 🌟

This , we’re proud to celebrate the incredible life and impact of Austin Minnis Jr. — a humble servant leader whose generosity helped make Lucy Corr what it is today. 💛
Born in 1877 to formerly enslaved parents, Mr. Minnis believed in giving back to his community not for recognition, but out of love and service. At 92 years old, he donated the proceeds from the sale of 13.5 acres of his land — the first major gift that helped build the Chesterfield County Nursing Home, the foundation of Lucy Corr. His gifts didn’t stop there: he shared fresh produce from his garden with residents for years and supported local organizations in need. 👏🏼
In a beautiful full-circle story, Mr. Minnis spent his final years living in the very community he helped create and passed away at the age of 103. His legacy lives on through the Austin Minnis Jr. Fellowship Hall — a space dedicated to connection and community at Lucy Corr. 🏡❤️

🥧❤️ National Cherry Pie Day! ❤️🥧

Today we are celebrating the sweet taste of tradition with a classic favorite — cherry pie! 🍒 There’s nothing quite like the smell of warm pie filling the room and bringing back cherished memories of family dinners, holiday gatherings, and homemade desserts.

Our residents enjoyed a delightful cherry pie social this afternoon. Moments like these remind us that it’s the simple pleasures — good food, good company, and sweet memories.

✨ Team Member Tuesday Spotlight ✨

This week we are proud to feature Kristen Bruce, Dental Clinic Coordinator for the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic!

Kristen began her journey with Lucy Corr in Fall 2017 as a Dental Assistant and stepped into the role of Dental Clinic Coordinator in January 2022. Since then, she has continued to grow both professionally and as a leader in community health.

Over the past year, Kristen assisted with 12 community outreach screening events, providing oral health screenings to individuals in Richmond, Chesterfield, and Petersburg. Through partnerships with SPAN Friendship Café, Better Housing Coalition, and Pathways Petersburg, she has helped expand access to care beyond our campus — strengthening Lucy Corr’s mission of service to both residents and community members.

Kristen was recently invited by the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics to apply for a highly competitive leadership opportunity. She was accepted into the 2026 cohort of the Community Health Center University Leadership Program at the University of Richmond — a transformative, year-long program designed to enhance skills, knowledge, and passion for community health leadership.

The Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics plays a vital role in supporting and sustaining clinics like ours, providing invaluable resources and opportunities that strengthen the care we provide.

Kristen, thank you for your dedication to our residents, our community, and the continued growth of the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic. We are so proud of you! 🦷💙

About Lucy Corr

Care, compassion and kindness: three words that are synonymous with Miss Lucy Corr and the health care community that bears her name. Lucy Corr opened in 1970 as the Chesterfield County Nursing Home. This invaluable asset to the citizens of the Chesterfield area would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of its founder, who was affectionately called “Miss Lucy.”
