🥧❤️ National Cherry Pie Day! ❤️🥧

Today we are celebrating the sweet taste of tradition with a classic favorite — cherry pie! 🍒 There’s nothing quite like the smell of warm pie filling the room and bringing back cherished memories of family dinners, holiday gatherings, and homemade desserts.

Our residents enjoyed a delightful cherry pie social this afternoon. Moments like these remind us that it’s the simple pleasures — good food, good company, and sweet memories.

Nurse Shakeama Burroughs, LPN, a member of the team in Lucy Corr’s Health Care Center, was honored this month with the Ceca Award for Senior Living. Burroughs received the award after being nominated for her compassion, professionalism and dedication to residents.

In addition, Bonnie Cheely, concierge, received the Ceca Gratitude Award for her thoughtful nominations of staff members and her commitment to celebrating excellence among colleagues.

Lucy Corr now participates in the Ceca Foundation’s national program, which recognizes and rewards the work of exceptional caregivers in healthcare communities. Thank you, Shakeama and Bonnie, for your service and dedication to residents and families!

🎭💜💛 Mardi Gras at Lucy Corr! 💛💜🎭

Our Health Care Center residents celebrated the day by getting creative with festive Mardi Gras crafts. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with color, conversation, and lots of smiles!

We love bringing a little extra fun into our days together. 💚

✨ Team Member Tuesday Spotlight ✨

This week we are proud to feature Kristen Bruce, Dental Clinic Coordinator for the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic!

Kristen began her journey with Lucy Corr in Fall 2017 as a Dental Assistant and stepped into the role of Dental Clinic Coordinator in January 2022. Since then, she has continued to grow both professionally and as a leader in community health.

Over the past year, Kristen assisted with 12 community outreach screening events, providing oral health screenings to individuals in Richmond, Chesterfield, and Petersburg. Through partnerships with SPAN Friendship Café, Better Housing Coalition, and Pathways Petersburg, she has helped expand access to care beyond our campus — strengthening Lucy Corr’s mission of service to both residents and community members.

Kristen was recently invited by the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics to apply for a highly competitive leadership opportunity. She was accepted into the 2026 cohort of the Community Health Center University Leadership Program at the University of Richmond — a transformative, year-long program designed to enhance skills, knowledge, and passion for community health leadership.

The Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics plays a vital role in supporting and sustaining clinics like ours, providing invaluable resources and opportunities that strengthen the care we provide.

Kristen, thank you for your dedication to our residents, our community, and the continued growth of the Lucy Corr Foundation Dental Clinic. We are so proud of you! 🦷💙

Since my wife is a resident at LCV, I have had first-hand experience with how Jenae treats the residents, families, and LCV staff. Jenae is an awesome mother of 2 beautiful children, an advocate, and exhibits the leadership to make the residents’ experience better.

We have truly felt the love this week at Lucy Corr! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Wild Roots Homeschool Group, Wi******er Adult Day Program, the Kindness Club at L.C. Bird High School, and Chester Presbyterian Preschool for showering our residents and participants with flowers, cards, candy, and beautiful handmade Valentine’s crafts.

Your thoughtful gestures brightened rooms, sparked smiles, and brought so much joy to those we serve. 💌🌸🍬

❤️🎶 Love Was in the Air at Our Valentine’s Day Party! 🎶❤️

Our Health Care Center was filled with joy, laughter, and so much love as we celebrated Valentine’s Day together! 💕

A special thank you to Claudia Carawan for blessing us with her beautiful voice and incredible energy. The music had toes tapping, hands clapping, and hearts smiling! 🎤✨

From delicious sweet treats 🍰 to wonderful friends gathered around the tables, you could truly feel the love in every corner of the room. Moments like these are what make our community so special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day unforgettable — and to our amazing residents who bring the heart to every celebration. 💖

Our Assisted Living residents at Lucy Corr had the opportunity to attend the Walk for Peace — and what a meaningful experience it turned out to be.

In a moment none of us will forget, the monks actually stepped onto our bus to greet our residents and personally hand out flowers. 🌸 The joy, the gratitude, the peaceful energy — it was something you could truly feel.

To see our residents welcomed, honored, and included in such a powerful community event reminded us why experiences like this matter so much. Moments of connection, kindness, and purpose don’t have an age limit.

We are so grateful to be part of a community that values peace, compassion, and togetherness.

This week we celebrated our incredible Activities Professionals in the Adult Day Center! 💙

We are so grateful for the love, creativity, energy, and compassion they bring to our participants each and every day. From meaningful programs and engaging activities to the simple moments of laughter and connection, they make our center a place of joy, dignity, and purpose.

Their work goes far beyond crafts and calendars — they create community, spark memories, encourage friendships, and ensure that every participant feels seen, valued, and cared for.
