Redness after a Graston Technique session is normal and expected. The stainless steel instruments gently glide over the skin to detect and treat muscle tension, scar tissue, or fascial restrictions.
Redness happens for several reasons:
👉increased blood flow, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the treated area
👉a tiny, controlled microtrauma that kicks off the body's natural healing response (inflammation)
👉release and remodeling of adhesions and scar tissue
👉individual skin sensitivity, which means redness can vary in intensity and duration.
It typically fades within a few hours to a couple of days, and mild bruising can occur in areas with more tension or scar tissue. If you have concerns, consult your clinician.

We are thrilled you have eliminated your back pain! Cheers to your recovery!😀✨

A Graston appointment focuses on soft tissue therapy using specialized stainless-steel instruments to help break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. Here’s what to expect:
1. Initial Assessment
Your practitioner will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and areas of pain or tightness. They’ll assess your movement and palpate the affected area to identify restrictions.
2. Preparation
The area being treated is usually exposed, and a lubricant (like massage cream or oil) is applied to help the instruments glide smoothly over your skin.
3. Graston Technique Application
The practitioner uses curved metal tools to gently scrape or glide over your skin in specific patterns. You may feel mild discomfort, warmth, or a “gritty” sensation as the tool passes over tight or scarred tissue.
4. Post-Treatment Work
After the instrument work, you might do light stretching, strengthening, or range-of-motion exercises to reinforce the treatment’s effects.
