Over the course of “Winter storm fern” (starting early Sunday morning and into Tuesday) KQARS career and volunteer members, staffed the station ready to respond at a moments notice. As of today, personnel have handled a total of 11 dispatched incidents. Both Ambulances were staffed with two personnel, and a support piece ( utility 8 ) was staffed with an officer and additional personnel for support during incidents.

At last nights general membership meeting, the first order of business per the bylaws is the election of the incoming years officers and board members. The results for 2026 are:

On January 25th, the KQARS held its annual banquet and installation of officers. Members in attendance received gifts of appreciation for service throughout the year, as well as recognizing their dedication to the department and community. We look forward to entering our 65th Year of service to the community and can not thank the citizens and visitors enough for their generous contributions, to allow us to continue serving.

We would like to thank Chester river seafood for catering, Helen Todd for decorating, the Kent County Commissioners for their overwhelming support, Kent County OES, Sheriff Dennis Hickman for swearing the Board and Officers into office, Chestertown Police Department, Chestertown Volunteer fire company for our continued partnership and the usage of their hall, and the rest of our partner agencies throughout the County.
