As young moms, Drs. Stout and Labadie constantly worry about their kids’ well-being. And while they may have worried a bit too much when their kids were babies, at least they knew, as dermatologists, that their skin was in good hands… theirs! 😉

We all know about shots, weigh-ins, and teething… but what about baby skin care? Healthy skin is more than just soft and cute, it’s a key part of your baby’s overall health.

Here are a few tips that have helped them prevent common skin and weather conditions:
☑️ Dryness & eczema: Baby skin is delicate. If daily baths are part of your routine, try a quick “soak and smear”. Stick to lukewarm water and fragrance-free, soap-free cleanser, and apply a gentle moisturizing cream like Vanicream right after bath time to lock in hydration.
☑️ Diaper rash: Keep skin dry, change diapers often, use gentle wipes, and apply a barrier cream with zinc oxide. Persistent rashes? Call your pediatrician.
☑️ Sun: Under 6 months? Keep them shaded and covered. Over 6 months? Choose a zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunscreen to block harmful rays safely.

Motherhood comes with a lot of worrying, but this simple skin care advice can put your mind at ease while giving your baby the healthiest start. 💚💜

As we wrapped up our Thanksgiving drive in support of Hearth, a Jamaica Plain nonprofit dedicated to ending elder homelessness through housing, outreach, prevention, and advocacy, our amazing Entertainment Committee surprised us with a sweet thank-you last week.🍁

We enjoyed apple cider, fresh donuts 🍩, and delicious apples from Pizzi Farms 🍎. Plus, a little friendly co****le competition made our lunch time even more fun! 🎯

Feeling grateful for this team and the chance to give back. 💜

SkinCare Physicians was well represented at ASDS Annual meeting in Chicago last weekend.

Drs. Arndt, Kaminer, Rohrer and Sikora, along with our fellows, Drs. Aizman and Coerdt, gathered to honor Dr. Dover who received the AACD Dr. Kenneth A. Arndt Mentorship Award for his longstanding commitment to guiding colleagues in cosmetic dermatology. They also spent the weekend lecturing, exchanging insights, learning about the latest innovations in dermatologic surgery, and reconnecting with peers.

Dr. Dover co-chaired the Opening Plenary Session on Dermatologic Surgery Pearls featuring presentations by both Dr. Sikora and Dr. Labadie (not pictured).

Dr. Labadie also had a separate talk on the use of ChatGPT to create informed consent for cosmetic dermatology procedures.

Dr. Rohrer co-led the Breaking Bad session on preventing and managing complications in reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures, shared practical tips for facial reconstruction, and even showcased his musical talents during one of the evening celebrations.

As the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to consider an aesthetic chemical peel! Fall and winter are ideal for peels since we spend more time indoors, lowering the level of UV exposure from the sun while our skin recovers and renews.

Our dermatologist-trained aestheticians love incorporating a yearly aesthetic peel in their patients’ skincare routine to achieve that effortless, no-makeup glow.

From gentle to medical-grade, our customized chemical peels help target:
👉 Aging
👉 Acne
👉 Hyperpigmentation

SkinCare Aesthetics’ philosophy is to tailor every peel to your skin’s unique needs, gradually increasing strength over time for optimal results. This personalized approach makes our peels safe and effective for all skin types.

Here’s what you can expect over time:
🧡 Smoother, more even complexion
🧡 Refined fine lines & improved texture
🧡 Reduction in acne & dark spots

Our own Dr. Molly Stout proudly hosted the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) regional Networking Reception, “Harvesting Connection,” last week in Brookline, MA!

It was an energizing evening bringing together dermatologists and residents from private practice and academic institutions across the Boston area. Guests connected, collaborated, reconnected, and forged new friendships after clinic at The Country Club.

Drs. Phillips, Kaminer, Arndt, Kim, and Labadie (not pictured) join this wonderful night of fellowship and fun!

Our annual Halloween parade is one of our favorite traditions. 🧡🖤

It’s a chance for our team to show off their creative side! From clever, homemade costumes and current events-inspired ones to entire departments dressing up around a theme, the day is always full of fun and imagination.
Several offices even get a spooky makeover for the occasion. 🕸️ This year, our Billing Department went all out, transforming their space into the SCP Bank & Trust’s KAD* Vault Room while dressing up as gangsters — with our CFO playing the role of the policeman! 🏦🚔

Happy Halloween! 👻🎃

A spooky mystery has landed in our office!
An anonymous patient sent Dr. Kaminer a stack of funny business cards with our logo and contact information, but his title now reads… ‘Magical Skin Wizard, Dermatology God’ and the specialties have become ‘Laser * Cometic Surgery * Abracadabra”.😂
We can’t believe how clever these are, and we are on a mission to find the mysterious creator behind them! 🕵️‍♀️
If you have any clues (or are ready to confess 👀), leave us a comment below.

Makeup can be the best part of a Halloween costume. Unlike a mask, it’s expressive, creative, and way more comfortable… you can talk, see and breathe! Makeup also lets you become a funnier, scarier, or more dramatic version of yourself. But make sure you use Halloween makeup safely. Even for one night, spooky skin reactions are never in style.

Here are tips from our dermatologist to keep your skin happy under all that makeup.

🎨 Prep before you paint: Start washing your skin with a gentle cleanser and use a light moisturizer to create a smooth base and prevent irritation. A makeup primer can also help create a barrier between your skin and your makeup and prevent clogged pores afterwards.

🧴 Pick your face products wisely: Only use hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic makeup meant for the face or eyes, especially if you are acne-prone. Stay away from products also made for nails or hair. These can cause irritation.

👀 Pay extra attention to your eyes: If you’re applying makeup around the eyes, stick with products specifically designed for eyelid use, like approved eyeliners or shadows. And skip lining the inside of your lash line as it can lead to clogged glands and infection.

☔ 💦 Check the weather reports: If it’s raining or warm out, carry a damp towel or soft baby wipe on your trick-or-treating tour. Rain and sweat can cause makeup to run, especially around the eyes, and a quick cleanup may be necessary. Avoid harsh makeup wipes that can irritate delicate skin.

🌙 End the night right: Be sure to gently remove all your makeup before bed. Start with a lotion cleanser to dissolve the bulk of the makeup, then follow with a mild face wash to remove every remnant. Finish with a hydrating serum and moisturizer to calm your skin and minimize any residual irritation.

🎃 Halloween makeup should be fun, not frightful for your skin! 👻

Have you heard of exosomes, the latest skincare ingredient buzz?
These little cellular messengers could be the next big thing in skin rejuvenation. Dr. Kaminer, who is studying exosomes extensively at SkinCare Physicians, is hopeful yet urging caution in a compelling Women’s Health article. He compares the current world of exosomes to “the wild west”. There is excitement and « promise in what they can do » but also a lot we don’t know and “still a lot of [research] work to be done”.

In his own words:
“It’s a huge leap to say that because exosomes exist, we can put them in a cream and have them do something.”
“I tell my patients that there’s just not enough data…and certainly not enough data on one specific product...I’m optimistic … but we’re just not there yet.”

Dr. Kaminer also highlights key unknowns: “which sources of exosomes” are best for the skin, “how many [exosomes] you need in a product to achieve a certain effect on the skin”, and “what’s actually inside the product” .

- Bottom line: exosomes look promising in improving skin aging, texture, barrier health, but most studies are in early stages.
- Takeaway: If you see “exosome cream”, stay cautious. Quality and evidence aren’t solid yet.

Have you ever heard of bullous pemphigoid (BP), a rare skin disease that mostly affects adults over 60? 👵🧓

This autoimmune disorder causes the body to attack its own skin, leading to painful blisters, redness, and intense itching 😣. Until recently, treatment options were limited, but that’s changing. 🙌

A new therapy designed specifically for BP offers real hope for better control, fewer side effects, and improved quality of life.

Learn more in Dr. Sobell’s newest blog, a must-read for anyone affected by BP or caring for someone who is: https://www.skincarephysicians.net/blog/medical-dermatology/dupixent-a-new-treatment-option-for-bullous-pemphigoid-a-rare-skin-disease/

Did you know firefighters are more than twice as likely to develop cancer during their lifetime compared to civilians? 🔥 Boston firefighters are no exception. Last weekend our own Dr. Labadie and Dr. Stout volunteered at the Boston Fire Department to screen for skin cancer. 🩺 In just 3 hours, they checked over 100 firefighters! 💪

Shoutout to our firefighters for protecting the city and staying on top of their skin health! 🚒🩺
And hats off to Dr. Labadie and Dr. Stout for volunteering their time to make it happen. 👩‍⚕️💚👩‍⚕️💜
