Three amazing SkinCare Physicians women. One powerful Boston Marathon story. 🏃‍♀️💙

At the 130th Boston Marathon, each one participated in her own way, united by a shared purpose: giving back to the community.

Dr. Jessica Labadie ran as a deeply personal tribute to her mother, a multiple cancer survivor undergoing a lung transplant. Through one of New England’s coldest, snowiest winters, she trained with determination, gratitude, and purpose while raising two young daughters and working full time. She ran with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute team to honor the doctors, nurses, patients, survivors, and researchers whose strength, compassion, and relentless pursuit of a cure inspired every mile.💛

Emily Gaven, our medical assistant, volunteered on the Medical Sweep Wheelchair Team for the Marathon for the very first time. Starting at 7AM, she trained in the medical tents on the intake process before helping transport runners in need of care and triage. As a recent Boston transplant, she found it incredible to be a part of the Boston community while helping athletes at critical moments during the race.🚑✨

Dr. Robin Travers, a 17-time Boston marathoner, achieved her 10th year coaching the Melanoma IMPACT running team. The team raised an incredible $270,000 to support the organization’s melanoma prevention, early detection, and patient support programs. From training runners to helping them and cheering them on race day, her impact continues far beyond the course. In recognition of her dedication, she was gifted a Boston Marathon Varsity Jacket, which she’s wearing in one of the photos. 👏

All three women’s paths crossed throughout the day in the most meaningful ways: an early morning ride into the city, as Dr. Travers picked up Dr. Labadie and drove her into Boston to board the bus for Hopkinton; a hug at mile 17; and a proud finish line moment when Emily cheered Dr. Labadie on. 💙💛

Dr. Alam is not only a close colleague and friend, but also one of the first fellows trained at SkinCare Physicians and among our most illustrious alumni.💚

Our own medical assistant, Emily Gaven, currently continuing her studies at Harvard Extension School, and Sarah Siddiqui, our former Northeastern University co-op student, presented their research at last week’s Northeastern University RISE Expo. Their poster, “Novel Intralesional Nemolizumab for Refractory Scalp Prurigo Nodularis,” was featured among a wide array of undergraduate and graduate research projects across all colleges. It highlighted a promising new injectable biologic treatment (nemolizumab) for persistent, intensely itchy scalp bumps that have not responded to standard therapies.

The RISE Expo is a showcase of undergraduate and graduate research, innovation, and scholarship, and it was wonderful to see their work highlighted in this setting.

We are so proud of Emily and Sarah for this accomplishment. Special thanks to for supporting and mentoring their efforts.

Dr. Sobell and Dr. Rohrer were honored to share their expertise, and connect with colleagues from around the world, at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in Denver, CO.

Dr. Sobell kicked off the event by participating in a robust meeting with fellow members of the National Psoriasis Foundation medical board.

While Dr. Rohrer gave talks and moderated sessions on:
🔹Facial rejuvenation (including a live demonstration of fillers, toxins and lasers)
🔹Facial reconstruction (he was the chair of the Master Reconstruction session)

He also stepped into his new role as Vice President-elect on the AAD Board of Directors, a well-deserved honor following last year’s election 👏

The AAD is the largest dermatology association in the United States, bringing together leaders dedicated to advancing skin health nationwide.
