Lately, Iāve seen/heard some things that have been sitting heavy on my heart. These are moments where animals werenāt treated with the care and respect they deserve.
And itās been a reminder.
From the very beginning, God gave us dominion:
āLet them have dominionā¦ā ā Genesis 1:26ā28
Dominion is not control for our own benefit, it is the God-given authority and responsibility delegated to man to steward, manage, and care for creation.
āThe Lord God⦠put him in the garden to work it and take care of it.ā ā Genesis 2:15
This kind of authority was never meant to be harsh, careless, or self-serving.
āA righteous man cares for the needs of his animalā¦ā ā Proverbs 12:10
Even in the smallest details, God made it clear:
āDo not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.ā ā Deuteronomy 25:4
Because His care extends to all of it:
āYou, Lord, preserve both people and animals.ā ā Psalm 36:6
This calls us back.
Back to awareness.
Back to responsibility.
Back to compassion.
If weāve been given authority, then weāve also been given accountability.
These animals are not just tools or inconveniences. They are part of what God has entrusted to us.
And how we care for them matters.
