Where do you see tension in your horse?

If horses are strong enough to keep going through discomfort, then where does that tension actually show up?

Some of the most common places are:
• Poll and neck
• Shoulders
• Along the back
• Hind end

And the tricky part?
It’s not always obvious.
Sometimes it shows up in movement. Sometimes in behavior. Sometimes in things we’ve just gotten used to seeing.
It’s worth paying attention to.

Horses will give you everything they have.

Even when they’re uncomfortable.

That’s what makes them so incredible… and also why it’s our responsibility to pay attention.

Lately, I’ve seen/heard some things that have been sitting heavy on my heart. These are moments where animals weren’t treated with the care and respect they deserve.

And it’s been a reminder.

From the very beginning, God gave us dominion:

ā€œLet them have dominionā€¦ā€ — Genesis 1:26–28

Dominion is not control for our own benefit, it is the God-given authority and responsibility delegated to man to steward, manage, and care for creation.

ā€œThe Lord God… put him in the garden to work it and take care of it.ā€ — Genesis 2:15

This kind of authority was never meant to be harsh, careless, or self-serving.

ā€œA righteous man cares for the needs of his animalā€¦ā€ — Proverbs 12:10

Even in the smallest details, God made it clear:

ā€œDo not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.ā€ — Deuteronomy 25:4

Because His care extends to all of it:

ā€œYou, Lord, preserve both people and animals.ā€ — Psalm 36:6

This calls us back.

Back to awareness.
Back to responsibility.
Back to compassion.

If we’ve been given authority, then we’ve also been given accountability.

These animals are not just tools or inconveniences. They are part of what God has entrusted to us.

And how we care for them matters.

Update after my ortho appointment!

I finally have a clearer picture of what I’m dealing with and what healing will look like.

I’m looking at 6 weeks non-weight bearing, followed by 4 weeks of rehab, and then physical therapy, so about a 12-week recovery in total. After PT, we’ll reassess my partially torn ACL to see if it’s healed or if surgery will be needed.

Right now, the main goal is to let the fracture fully heal and then rebuild strength.

That does mean I’ll be hitting pause on my certification for a little while, which is tough but I know it’s temporary. And I'll be honest… I don’t sit still very well šŸ˜… so this might just be the perfect time to dive into more courses and expand my knowledge in other areas!

Thank you all so much for the support, encouragement, and patience ā¤ļø

Well… the MRI results are in... I dont have the full picture but here is what I know:

Turns out my knee decided to go with a sprained ACL and a fracture just for fun. šŸ˜…

So things will be on pause for a bit while I heal and figure out what recovery looks like.i will have an Ortho appointment on Thursday.

Definitely not the timing I would have chosen, but I’m trusting that God’s timing is better than mine, even when it slows me down.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in and supported me. It means a lot 🄰

It’s been a little quiet around here… there’s a reason. šŸ¦—
I had a horse riding accident that has temporarily paused my certification hours. I’ll be getting an MRI on Friday to see what exactly is going on and what the recovery timeline might look like.
Not exactly how I planned this season, but sometimes things don’t make sense in the moment. Thankfully God’s timing is always perfect, even when it slows us down.
Thank you all for the encouragement and support. I’m hoping to be back at it soon!

I have been completely overwhelmed (in the best way) by how willing everyone in the community has been to help me complete my equine massage certification. I truly cannot say thank you enough. Your support, encouragement, and generosity mean so much to me! 🄰

āœØļøHey all!

I have officially started my certification hours and case studies for equine massage therapy!

As part of my program, I need to work on horses from 3 different breeds and disciplines.

If you (or someone you know) has a horse that would be willing to participate, I would love your help! This is a great opportunity to support my journey while helping your horse feel their best.🐓 (did I mention it's free!)

Feel free to message me or comment below if you’re interested!

I am trying to stay around the Cheyenne and Fort Collins area but reach out if you are somewhere close!

Got a little creative this weekend. I discovered that my current backpack was too small to fit my massage notes and computer in so I went on a hunt for a bigger one. Of course I had to personalize it! šŸ©¶šŸ–¤

šŸ¤”Where does scar tissue come from?ā¬‡ļø

Scar tissue forms when the body heals areas of repeated irritation or inflammation.

This tissue is strong, but less flexible and less well supplied with blood, which can affect comfort and movement over time.

White hairs can sometimes be the visible reminder that the tissues beneath the saddle worked harder than they should have.

Listening to these small signs helps us support our horses more thoughtfully šŸ¤
