When the Office Dog Needs a Day Off 🐾
Some Wyoming days bring icy roads, blowing snow, cancellations, and a skeleton crew. Today was one of those days at Thrive. We slowed down, answered phones, and supported the clients who could safely make it in.
But there was something else missing today… Willow stayed home.
For many of our clients, Willow is more than a therapy dog. She is a calm, steady presence. A soft place for nervous systems to land. Most people don’t realize how much she helps regulate the space until she isn’t there.
Today was a quiet reminder that we all rely on connection—people, routines, safe spaces, and yes, animals—to help us feel steady.
Even those who help others regulate need rest sometimes. And today, our office dog modeled that beautifully.
Resilience isn’t about pushing through every storm. Sometimes it’s about pausing, breathing, and allowing yourself a day off.
Monday, Willow will likely be back greeting everyone as if she never left. But today reminded us that healing is built in small, ordinary moments.
Sometimes, even the office dog needs a day off.
We’d love to hear from you…
What helps you feel calm and regulated on stressful or snowy days?
