We are ecstatic to announce that we are looking for a Doctor of Physical Therapy to join us! ⁣
⁣
We are specifically looking for a Doctor of Physical Therapy who wants to practice in a 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝗼𝗻-𝗢𝗻𝗲 patient focused environment using the full scope of their degree and training. ⁣
⁣
They will be responsible for the patients full care 100% of the time, no techs, aides, or assistants. ⁣
⁣
Preference given to 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 Doctors. ⁣
⁣
We prefer that the candidate use 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 principles to supplement manual skills.⁣
⁣
A residency in Orthopedics, Board Certification in Orthopedics, and/or Strength and Conditioning certification is a plus. ⁣
⁣
They should also have a respectable comfort level with crossfit style workouts, HiiT style circuits, oly lifts and even powerlifting, but will be willing to train. ⁣
⁣

Matt Scarlett is a Doctor of Physical Therapy student from the Medical Center at University of Nebraska.⁣

Matt is an ultra runner…what is an ultra runner you ask? ⁣
⁣
An ultra distance race is typically a race of any distance beyond 26.2 miles. The most common races begin at 50K, or 31.069 miles, and can span up to 100+ miles long.⁣
⁣
Matt is from Buffalo (Wyoming).⁣
⁣
Matt graduated from University of Wyoming with his Bachelors in Kinesology in 2018 and Wake Forest Univeristy in 2020 presenting his Master’s Thesis in Osteoarthritis. ⁣

Why did he choose Physical Therapy for his profession?⁣

“I like the idea of helping people with lifestyle changes and getting them back to enjoying life after injuries.”⁣

This is my favorite quote in my favorite place. ⁣

Both inspire me in different ways. ⁣

Just yesterday, I had a patient during our first physical therapy visit, say “I wish I had come here earlier”, and I thought of this quote.⁣

It also made me think about how many other people we could have seen and helped earlier. ⁣

I realize that not every injury needs healthcare, and not every musculoskeletal problem needs physical therapy. ⁣
⁣
But I also realize that there are far more people that could benefit from our help but think:⁣

In the front of the clinic hangs a very important picture. This is of me (Jamie) and Senator Barrasso in Washington DC. ⁣
⁣
We talked about the rising cost of healthcare and the declining cost of reimbursement specifically with Medicare. ⁣
⁣
We also talked with Senator Barrasso about taking the sponsorship of a bill (𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁) in the Senate. ⁣
⁣
This bill would allow for general supervision of PTAs by physical therapists in outpatient settings under Medicare Part B. Medicare currently allows for general supervision in all other domains including home health 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 in the outpatient setting. ⁣
⁣
And did you know that Laramie County community College supports the physical therapy profession with a PT assistant program? ⁣
⁣
But patient access is limited to seeing our PTAs in the outpatient setting, not allowing our PTAs to work at the level they are trained to. ⁣
⁣
Changes need to be made. And Senator Barrasso can sponsor that change! ⁣
⁣
