“I will forever be telling people how important it is to get your mammogram every year.”
Those are the words of Heather Ashby, who nearly skipped her screening — until a mobile mammography unit at her workplace made it easy to keep her appointment. Because she went, her early-stage breast cancer was detected just days before a planned vacation, and she was able to get prompt follow-up care and a lumpectomy. Today she has an excellent prognosis, and she says the screening quite literally saved her life.
Heather’s experience is a powerful reminder that preventive imaging can make all the difference. When cancer or other conditions are found early, treatment is usually less complex, recovery is quicker, and the financial impact — from medical bills to time away from work or family — is often much smaller.
Don’t wait for symptoms. Regular screenings help catch issues when they are still most treatable, helping you stay healthier longer — and helping avoid the emotional and financial burden that can come with late-stage disease.
