Rights didn’t fall from the sky. They were fought for.

They were fought for by women who were called loud, difficult, dramatic, and “too much.”
They disrupted. They organised. They refused to shrink.

And that spirit lives on.

Knott Your Average Foundation stands for advocacy that protects families, workers, and renters right here in Wyoming. Real change doesn’t happen quietly. It happens when people show up.

In Cheyenne and across Wyoming, we believe:
• Tenants deserve transparency
• Workers deserve protection
• Families deserve systems that work

This is advocacy rooted in healing, community, and power.

Follow Knott Your Average Foundation to stay informed about Wyoming legislation, tenant rights, worker protections, and community advocacy efforts.

Advocacy in action. 💜

Today our founder submitted TWO more proposals to the Wyoming State Legislature:

✅ Contractor Access Requirements — Protecting tenants’ right to know who enters their home
✅ Wyoming Worker Protection Act — Comprehensive protections for Wyoming’s workforce

That’s 17 total proposals submitted TODAY covering tenant rights, worker protections, and accountability for landlords and employers.

This is what it looks like when one person decides to show up.

Families shouldn’t have to navigate these systems alone. We’re here to help — and to fight for real change.

Wyoming has some of the weakest protections in the nation for renters AND workers. I’m working to change that.

I did something today I never thought I’d do.

After nearly 9 years as a renter in Cheyenne, I submitted 15 tenant rights proposals to the Wyoming State Legislature.

Wyoming ranks as one of the LEAST protective states for renters in America.
No rent limits.
No retaliation protections.
No deposit caps.
No mold disclosure requirements.

These aren’t radical ideas — they’re basic standards that exist in 43+ other states.

The legislative session ends March 11. Our legislators need to hear from YOU.

We’re officially here. 💜

Knott Your Average Foundation is a Wyoming nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that no family has to navigate medical, mental health, or disability systems alone.

Our founder Candace Lee Tanner — a licensed massage therapist, single mother, and lifelong advocate in Cheyenne, Wyoming — built this foundation from lived experience. From watching family members struggle in systems that offered little explanation and even less support. From navigating her own complex medical care and feeling invisible in the process.

We serve veterans navigating VA care, Medicaid and Medicare recipients, families supporting loved ones with mental health and disability needs, and anyone who has ever felt lost or unheard in a healthcare setting.

This is personal. This is purpose. And this is just the beginning.

So my request is simple:
Revise SJ 6 language so it promotes shared parenting without shaming single parents or ignoring safety.

Support co-parenting.
Protect families.
Tell the truth.

02/20/2026

Hey mamas and community, quick reality check.

I’m not against dads. I’m not against co-parenting. I’m for kids having both parents when it’s healthy and safe.

But SJ 6 has wording that can sound like:
“If you’re a single mom, you’re the reason kids struggle.”

And that’s not fair, and it’s not true.

Kids do better when they have:
• a safe home
• stable routines
• less stress and conflict
• enough money/resources
• supportive adults

That can happen in a single-parent home or a two-parent home.

This is why I’m asking lawmakers to revise SJ 6 so it supports co-parenting without shaming single parents or ignoring safety.

‼️ ATTENTION WYOMING PARENTS, CAREGIVERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ‼️

Wyoming moms know that stability, safety, and support matter more than simple labels. Many families are doing their best in complex situations, and strong children come from safe, stable, and supportive environments.

As a Wyoming mother, business owner, and healthcare provider, I strongly support safe and healthy co-parenting. Children deserve meaningful relationships with both parents whenever it is safe and appropriate.

At the same time, we must acknowledge that outcomes for children are influenced by economic stability, housing security, and exposure to trauma or conflict. Oversimplified narratives about single-parent households do not reflect the realities many Wyoming families face.

For this reason, I am encouraging the Senate Judiciary Committee to revise SJ 6 so it promotes shared parenting while also recognizing safety, stability, and the diverse challenges families experience.

Our goal should always be stronger families and better outcomes for children across Wyoming. I encourage parents, caregivers, and professionals who work with families to engage respectfully and ensure our policies reflect real-life experiences.

If you care about Wyoming families, please reach out to the Senate Judiciary Committee today and ask for thoughtful, trauma-informed language in this resolution

I truly believe God gives us purpose through our experiences.

Watching my family struggle with stress, trauma, and chronic pain shaped my heart and my mission. I believe He placed this calling on my life so I could help others find healing and stability.

The Knott Your Average Foundation exists to serve families who feel unseen, overwhelmed, and alone.

Through trauma-informed care and nervous system healing, we are building stronger families and stronger communities.

If you believe healing is part of God’s plan, please pray for this mission and share this message. 💜

Healing should not be a luxury.

I created the Knott Your Average Foundation because I’ve seen what chronic stress, trauma, and pain do to families when they don’t have access to care.

My aunt and uncles lived with years of physical pain and emotional strain. They worked hard, showed up for their families, and pushed through everything quietly. But like many working families in rural communities, they didn’t have access to preventative care or consistent healing support.

Their story is not rare. It’s happening every day.

Through my work in Cheyenne, I see parents, caregivers, and professionals living in survival mode. They want healing. They just can’t afford it.

This foundation exists to change that.

We will provide trauma-informed care, nervous system support, grief resources, and education for families across Wyoming who need it most.

Because when one person heals, families stabilize.
When families stabilize, communities grow stronger.

If you believe healing should be accessible to everyone, I invite you to:
💜 Follow our journey
💜 Volunteer, partner, or sponsor
💜 Help us bring generational healing to Wyoming

This is more than wellness.
This is legacy.
