👀 How Is Your Peripheral Vision? 👀
Your peripheral (side) vision allows you to see what’s happening around you without looking directly at it—like noticing movement, navigating crowds, or driving safely. 🚗
One important way we check your peripheral vision is with a visual field test.
🧠 What Is a Visual Field Test?
A visual field test measures how well you can see in all directions while focusing straight ahead. During the test, you’ll look at a central point and press a button whenever you see small lights appear in your side vision.
🔍 What Does It Help Detect?
This test helps identify vision changes that may not be noticeable yet, including:
• Glaucoma (often affects peripheral vision first)
• Optic nerve damage
• Retinal conditions
• Effects from stroke or neurological conditions
⚠️ Vision loss from conditions like glaucoma can be silent and irreversible, which is why routine testing is so important.
