Where is your faith?
I have long held that psychology and theology do not always have to be adversarial concepts.
I believe that logic and reason are sometimes what we need to overcome trials and tribulations, but I have also been raised to believe and born witness to the value of faith. After all Faith, “ is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
My wife and my daughter are both healthcare workers who come in contact with people who are carrying the Corona Virus daily and with significant frequency. I will freely admit this scares the sh..crap out of me because I cannot protect them from it. I have found myself reflecting on my faith, is it strong only when things are going smoothly? Or is it tried and proven and something that gets me through the darkest of times. For me it is the latter! My faith may falter, but it has never failed me.
I share this story because we are going through trying times. As a counselor I can help you identify all the effective coping mechanisms you can find, but if you don’t have the faith to apply them when you need them..What good are they?
These are the times when you are challenged to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Is your faith BONAFIDE!! Can it...Will it carry you through?
If you are a person of faith reach down deep and tap those reserves. Lean on and be leaned upon by family, friends and others you come in contact with. Like most valuable commodities the more people engage in it the more value it has.
