We did it!!! Let me tell you it's been quite the journey. Overall excited shedding weight. Going down 32 lbs this year, being more lean.

My name is Ali Abdollahzadeh and I am a Chicago Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic with 15 years with the Chicago Fire Department. I am fundraising for the Illinois Spina Bifida Association. As a Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) & Paramedic I have worked in my early years with patients having to deal with the challenges of Spina Bifida. I can attest that these individuals, especially the children have a very unique and challenging lifestyle to adapt to. I have worked alongside many of these patients transporting them to their doctors offices and physical therapy clinics, and in and out of their homes to the many health appointments they needed. Which is why this year I am dedicating my training and fitness fundraising goal with the Illinois Spina Bifida Association. I am excited and honored that this year I am training for to run and complete the 2024 Chicago Marathon.

I know asking for donations are challenging. However any of you can help with $26.20 dollars. You would be helping me support a dollar a mile, getting Illinois Spina Bifida Association for the 26.2 miles I'll be running on Sunday.

While my goals have shifted, I am still quite please with my overall results for training and getting back into shape. Cutting down my pace time from 14 minute miles back to sub 9 minute miles.

I am hoping to Personal Record from 12 years ago which I ran a 5 hour and 27 minute marathon. I am hoping to run and sub 5 hour marathon this year, and anything beyond that I'll be pretty pleased.

This is totally a hug loss, so sad for my friends and co-workers. Drew was in the fire class that was in the academy when I crossover as a paramedic to firefighter/paramedic. He was one of the many firefighter/paramedic instructors at the academy fairly often. We worked together seldom, however it was always like we had been long time friends for many years whenever we reacquainted and he always to be known as a guy whom had a smile on his face and always chatted with everyone. A truly huge loss this morning for the entire Department my thoughts are with his wife and family members and all CFD members who know and loved him. 3-3-5 Brother.

CE HLTH 4369 Heartcode® BLS Hands-On Session (CPR for Healthcare Providers - Hands-On Session)
This course, designed for current and future healthcare providers, is the second and final part of AHA's Heartcode® BLS blended learning. Heartcode® BLS is the AHAs BLS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by this hands-on skills session. Prerequisite: - ELearning Portion: Students must successfully complete the AHA Heartcode® BLS Online portion and submit their completion certificate, prior to registering for the In-Person Hands-On Session. The online portion can be found at https://elearning.heart.org/ - Students must bring a hard copy of the online completion certificate to the class.

CE HLTH 4072 American Heart Associations BLS Provider Course (CPR for Healthcare Providers)
This course, designed by the AHA for healthcare providers, teaches Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and relief of foreign body airway obstruction for adults, children and infants. It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a healthcare provider course for employment or as a prerequisite for ACLS, PALS, and BLS instructor courses. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a course completion card issued through the American Heart Association. You must register in advance. We cannot permit registrations the day of the class.
