Local celebrity alert 🤩 Yesterday we featured some of our amazing residents at Clarendale Six Corners during our Friendsgiving luncheon. Each of our residents shared about their process of making the transition to senior living: the joys, the challenges and the memories they have made along the way.

We are blessed to have such an incredible group of residents that have chosen Clarendale as their home. The diversity of career experience, skills and loving personalities in our community make it all the more unique.

This week, residents created “birthday bags” as a donation to our local Irving Park Food Pantry!Throughout the earlier month, residents collaborated to hold a drive for items related to cake mix, frosting, decorations, candles, and aluminum foil pans. These various items were bagged into individual birthday-themed bags to provide an easy way for residents of the local community to assist in celebrating birthdays in their families. Clarendale residents generated such an overwhelming number of donations that a second drop-off is required!

What a beautiful Clarendale community moment to directly impact our local neighborhood.

Our residents just completed the first GeNarrations storytelling program which involves a seven-week long creative workshop designed to explore personal narrative writing and performance! Guided by Carlo our Goodman Theatre Teaching Artist, the “students” of the program craft stories rooted in their own lived experiences.

Today, five of our talented residents took the stage to perform their deeply personal life stories for the entire community. Their words brought tears, laughter, and heartfelt admiration from everyone in the room. We are so proud of their creativity, courage, and the meaningful bonds this program continues to nurture! Bravo! 🎤

October was filled with gratitude, creativity, and cultural discovery! Residents embraced the world of Germany with an outing to Edelweiss Restaurant — a cozy Bavarian gem known for its hearty schnitzels, sausages, and warm hospitality — and visited Lutz Café, a beloved Chicago bakery famous for its handmade European chocolates and traditional German treats. Back at the community, residents expressed their creativity through seasonal art projects, including colorful spackle canvases of pumpkins and ghosts, and gratitude trees adorned with heartfelt notes of thankfulness. They also enjoyed assembling beautiful autumn charcuterie boards featuring pumpkin butter, crisp apples, spiced nuts, and aged cheeses - a true taste of the season! To close out the month, residents came together to create a vibrant Día de los Mu***os display, honoring their loved ones while learning about the meaning and beauty of this cultural celebration. 🍂💛💀✨
