The Rush Solid Organ Transplant Program provides patient-centered pre-transplant and post-transplant care for people who need kidney, liver or pancreas transplants.

Rush Transplant Services welcomes Veronica Loy, DO, to the role of Medical Director of Liver Transplant.
In addition to leading our liver transplant program, her clinical practice will be focused on optimizing patients for liver transplantation and quality improvements in long-term post-transplant outcomes.

This milestone marks an important achievement in our commitment to providing compassionate care and support for organ donors and their families. We look forward to continuing our mission and making a difference in the lives of many more individuals in the years to come.

Allergies are common, especially during the fall 🍂and spring🌱season.

💊Pseudoephedrine containing products such as Sudafed, Claritin-D, Zyrtec-D Allegra-D, and Mucinex D are NOT ⚠️recommended to use for long durations after your kidney donation, because they can raise your blood pressure and put stress on your remaining kidney. These should be avoided completely or if used, it must be done only with medical guidance.
Instead, choose alternatives like anti-histamines that do not contain pseudoephedrine, such as Zyrtec or Claritin (without the “-D”).

Let’s keep that kidney safe!

🎉Congratulations🎉 to Nicole Alvey, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at RUSH Transplant, for earning the “G.O.A.T. Award” from the Women’s Health Community of Practice.

In addition to this recognition, Nicole inspired many as a speaker at the symposium, “Pregnancy in Transplant Recipients: From Preconception to Birth.”

We have been delighted the last six weeks to have💊👩🏻‍⚕️ pharm students, Nancy and Iman, be a part of our transplant program.
They joined the transplant program as part of their rotation with UIC College of Pharmacy. Nancy said, “my favorite learning experience over the past 6 weeks at Rush was working closely and learning from the amazing transplant team, and what I most like about transplant is witnessing upfront the complex concepts that allow for transplantation to be feasible and safe in modern medicine!”
