This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the women who lead with vision, compassion, and a deep commitment to their communities. We honor the trailblazers who paved the way and recognize the emerging leaders who will continue shaping the future.
Today, we are proud to recognize Maria Rivera, Director of Mentorship & Workforce Development at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
In 2001, Maria founded the Discovering Healthcare Careers (DHC) Program, creating a pathway for young people across Chicago to explore careers in healthcare. What began as a vision to open doors for students has grown into a program that has inspired and mentored generations of future healthcare professionals.
More than two decades later, her leadership continues to create opportunities, uplift communities, and shape the next generation of leaders in healthcare. For many of us who have been shaped by this work, Maria’s vision has not only created opportunities, it has created a lasting legacy of mentorship and community impact.
Thank you, Maria, for your leadership and dedication. And thank you to the women everywhere whose resilience, compassion, and commitment continue to move our communities forward every day.
