The story, how it all began…
Almost 10 years ago, on a family trip with my best friend, everything changed.
She had quietly lost 15 to 20 pounds and looked amazing, but she couldn’t really explain the plan. She just kept saying, “You either do it or you don’t.”
And something in me clicked.
There I was, on a beach vacation, knowing I needed a change. Knowing I was ready.
She told me she had been referred by a doctor, and that was enough for me to listen. My only question was, “As long as I don’t have to buy supplements or gimmicks, I’m in.”
And I will never forget watching her on that vacation.
She was making such mindful decisions. She ordered ceviche, she stayed consistent with her meals, and she kept following the rules of the program even while sitting on a beach.
It was inspiring. It made me think, “If she can do this here, I can do this too.”
So I did it.
And it worked.
For the first time, I realized I wasn’t broken. I was simply a mom who needed the right structure, three kids later.
And the wildest part was this: the missing piece wasn’t willpower. It was nourishment. I had not been giving my body nearly enough to function the way it needed to.
And truthfully, I had been training for this lifestyle for 12 years without even knowing it.
My son had life threatening food allergies to eggs, dairy, soy, and peanuts.
Reading labels, checking ingredients, and avoiding cross contamination was my everyday life. Structure and discipline were already part of me. Protecting my child through food was how I lived, so this way of eating never felt restrictive. It felt familiar and safe.
At the same time, life was shifting.
I was raising three boys and juggling travel sports.
And although I was working in corporate at the time, coaching had always been a part of me. I coached as a professional figure skating instructor before and after my corporate workday, and helping students grow was something that lit me up every single time.
Suddenly everything lined up.
My coaching background, my experience with food awareness, my perspective as a mom, and my drive as an athlete all came together.
After I hit my goal, I maintained for months to prove to myself that this truly worked.
And then I took the leap.
I became a FoodFuels coach.
It was the best decision I have ever made.
It changed my life.
It gave me purpose every single day.
I still wake up the way I did as a young athlete skating at 5 a.m., feet on the floor and ready to work with my heart.
And none of this would have happened without Michelle.
My best friend.
My inspiration.
The person who changed my entire life without even realizing it.
Michelle, I love you. I am forever thankful for you and forever grateful for you. You believed in me, and because you did, I have been able to pay it forward and help thousands of people find their own path. You gave me the courage to begin a journey that became my calling.
You once told me, “You’re going to be great. Just remember, it is not about you. Always make it about the client.”
That advice became my compass, and it still guides me every day.
Happy Thanksgiving, I’m forever grateful with all my heart,
Love you Michelle.
