Present Awakenings Therapy Center Present Awakenings Therapy Center provides mental health therapy to adults who have experienced trauma and loss.

We use a combination of EMDR, somatic techniques, parts works, and traditional talk therapy to help clients heal.

Joe knew he felt called to serve others with his career, and after careful consideration of his skills, passions, and talents, he knew clinical work in the mental health field was his calling. On the crisis stabilization unit at Haymarket Center and as a Community Support Specialist at Thresholds, his ability to connect and relate to clients, strong empathy, creativity, and patience helped him to build quick rapport and get clients engaged. While at Loyola for his Masters, Joe then developed the textbook knowledge for the theories and interventions he had witnessed and utilized while working in Community Mental Health. Present Awakenings’ is thrilled to welcome Joe Huey to the team! He has over 4 years of experience in community mental health at Haymarket Center and Thresholds, and has worked with adult clients across all identity spectrums. He pulls from ACT, DBT, humanistic, and Psychodynamic therapies and has completed EMDR training with the EMDR institute. He has a very calm and nonjudgmental presence, and is a curious, empathetic, and kind therapist, with just the right amount of humor.

Joe will begin seeing adult clients for outpatient individual therapy on April 28th and will have openings Monday-Friday, including some evening and early morning hours. He is in-network with BCBS PPO and BCBS Blue Choice PPO plans. If you are interested in beginning therapy with Joe, please reach out to Present Awakenings at connect@presentawakenings.com.
