At the "InTransit Celiac Health Forum: Teens and Experts Together," many of the sessions will be led by teens themselves. InTransit teen leaders helped shape the program and will lead conversations about the issues teens face every day.

Experts participating in the Celiac Disease Center’s CME conference (being held at the same time) will also join the discussion, offering additional insight and answering questions.

Celebrating Passover with celiac disease?

Here are a few tips to reduce the risk of cross-contact at the table:

• Have others break the matzo so you don’t need to touch it.

• Use separate charoset bowls so spoons don’t touch both regular matzo and gluten-free matzo.

It may be April 1, but don’t be fooled.

Buckwheat is naturally gluten free. Even though it contains the word wheat, buckwheat, also known as kasha, is actually a seed and not a type of wheat.

Of course, always check labels to make sure no gluten-containing ingredients were added.

We often get questions about why follow-up appointments matter after a celiac disease diagnosis.

As we close out National Nutrition Month, it’s a good time to highlight how celiac disease can affect the absorption of key nutrients like calcium, iron, and folate. Without proper monitoring, deficiencies can lead to complications such as anemia or low bone density.

Regular follow-up care helps ensure the intestines are healing and nutritional needs are being met.
