ICE raids. Threats to take Greenland. Plans for Venezuela. We're watching colonization happen in real time.
And as therapists, we need to understand how these same colonial systems show up in our own field - in how we diagnose, in the power dynamics we hold, in the frameworks we were taught to use.
In 2 weeks, Dr. Victoria Doobay is facilitating "Examining the Impact of Colonization on Mental Health Practices" here in Chicago.
In this training, we'll examine colonization in our mental health systems and explore how we've internalized these frameworks in our own clinical work. We'll do reflective, experiential practices to help us uproot processes that don't align with client-centered care.
You don't have to carry this alone. Come be in community with other therapists doing this work.
