The Illinois Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Act is set to expire on January 1, 2027. This law is the foundation of our licensure and our ability to serve families, couples, and individuals across Illinois. IAMFT is actively engaged in the renewal process, but we’ll need YOUR voices to ensure success.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – a time to shine a light on how we can protect older adults from abuse, especially financial exploitation.

Here’s how seniors can protect themselves:

1. Stay connected – Keep in touch with family and friends to reduce isolation.
2. Plan ahead – Organize important documents and make a plan for managing money as you age.
3. Review finances regularly – Understand how powers of attorney work and who can help manage your assets.
4. Add a trusted contact – A trusted contact can help protect your accounts if something seems off.
5. Protect personal info – Never share your Social Security number, bank info, or passwords over the phone or email.
