A huge thank you to IL State Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. for taking the time to meet with our CEO Sherry Pace, Director of Communications Patty Johnson, Board Vice Chair Kevin McGhee and his daughter Kira Jai McGhee during IPHCA Advocacy Day on March 25.

We had a productive discussion about the importance of protecting the 340B program to ensure patients can afford their medications. We also addressed Medicaid rate reform, emphasizing the need to eliminate the reimbursement gap, so community health centers no longer have to rely on alternative funding sources to provide high-quality care in their communities.

We’re proud to work alongside leaders who are committed to advancing quality, accessible healthcare for our patients and communities. We look forward to welcoming Rep. Evans to our South Chicago Clinic soon to tour our facility and see our impact in action!

A new report from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) shows that people experiencing homelessness face higher rates of emergency visits, hospitalizations and premature death.

They also have a 39.3% chance of dying from an overdose, compared to just 4.9% among those who are not experiencing homelessness.

Community health centers like Chicago Family play a critical role in addressing these disparities by expanding access to primary care, providing preventive services, and supporting harm reduction efforts such as increased availability of NARCAN. These interventions help reduce overdose risks and connect vulnerable individuals to ongoing care and support.

Sometimes the people who inspire us most aren’t industry experts or leaders at the helm—they’re the ones who shape how we care for others 💙

For Lisa LoBianco, CFHC Chief Operations Officer, that inspiration comes from her mother. Not only did she raise her, but Lisa also had the opportunity to work for her early in her career.

Through that experience, she obtained more than just a strong work ethic. She learned that the most valuable resource in any organization is its people.

Leadership isn’t just about guiding others. It’s about recognizing the strength, commitment, and dedication of the team behind you.

In healthcare, where compassion and teamwork are essential, that inspiration is top of mind for Lisa. She believes that great leadership means supporting the people who make healing possible.

Advocacy matters because our patients matter.

On March 25, Chicago Family Health Center leadership took part in the Illinois Primary Health Care Association Advocacy Day to ensure our communities are heard where decisions are made.

Our CEO Sherry Pace, Board Vice Chair Kevin McGhee, and Communications & Marketing Director Patty Johnson met with key state lawmakers and staffers from the offices of Representatives Marcus Evans and Lisa Davis, and Senator Elgie Sims, to advocate for the needs of community health centers and the patients we serve.

This included protecting the 340B Program, which allows health centers to provide affordable meds and reinvest in essential health services. We also addressed strengthening Medicaid reimbursements for health centers and expanding access to oral health services.

We’re grateful to the Illinois Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) for organizing such an impactful day. This yearly event creates meaningful connections, opens doors, and helps move forward the policies that strengthen access to care.

Together, we continue to champion healthier communities across Chicago.

It takes a village to protect the health of our communities.

Each year during National Health Center Week, we open our doors to legislators and community leaders to share the programs and services that matter most to our patients—and to advocate for greater access to quality, affordable care. These conversations help ensure the needs of our community remain part of the policy conversation.

Thank you to Robin Kelly for joining us at our Partnership Day. We hope to welcome you again this year.
