Happy National Physical Therapy month!

This post is a funny one to write... This is my mentor Dr Mary J. Rogel, PhD, LAc of East Point Associates

Dr Mary has been an acupuncturist for almost 40 years and I have been learning from her for almost 4 years now. She literally does the best orthopedic manual therapy I have ever seen in addition to unbelievable orthopedic needling; I have watched her achieve things on people's bodies in one session that shouldn't be possible.

I'm choosing to add her to our October celebrations because (1) we're now office roommates in our new space, (2) I vehemently believe in continuing education, and (3)... Controversial opinion warning!!!... I think in 50-100 years from now all of us "body" people are going to need to choose a common label for ourselves and stop the Turf Wars.

We've seen some really beautiful interdisciplinary results on shared patients so far and I'm excited to keep learning from you. After almost 4 years, I still can't believe I have the privilege of even looking inside your brain and I'm humbled by the volume of what continues to lie ahead of me.

For those of you that have been treated by Mary, you'll know her shoes can never be filled.

Happy National Physical Therapy month! We're thrilled to continue celebrating our incredible staff.

Dogtor Kala Mimee: Human Resources & Morale Manager

She takes her job(s) very seriously. Kala ushers patients out at the end of their sessions and new patients into their spots. With 4 private treatment rooms, she is busy ALL day long. During sessions, she checks on patients who make sounds of pain and, if she asks to leave the room to check on someone else, when she returns she apologizes for her absence. Every one of our staff takes our customer experience very seriously at Velona.

I didn't realize how many special things happen in October! Velona Health's Birthday last week AND today is Kala's Gotcha Day too!!!

Please tell her what a Good Girl she is next time you see her.

Happy World Physiotherapist Day!!!

We've been deep in the trenches, treating patients, and putting our new clinic together and somehow the year is mostly done.

On this day we have to acknowledge our staff, patients, space, community, purpose 🥰🥰🥰

It's an honour to watch apply to PT schools (wish her luck and pray over her, please) and it's exciting to start planning to take our first PT student in the new year in their last internship before the boards certifying exam.

Things are moving, time is moving, patients are moving better too!

📢 An Introduction!! 📢

Amirah Baker, administrative assistant and future Pediatric Physical Therapist.

I don't know how to introduce her in such a small amount of space. She joined the team April 2nd. We met March 14th... The universe had plans. If I haven't already bothered you with the story, ask me next time we see each other!! It's one of my favourite story to tell. 🥰🥰🥰

Hi, I’m Amirah Baker!

I’m a proud Chicago native, recent Exercise Science graduate, and aspiring pediatric physical therapist. My passion for working with kids began through years of experience in community programs and was deepened by my own recovery journey after burn injuries in 2021. Today, I’m excited to be part of the Velona Health team as the Administrative Aide. I’m learning every day and preparing to begin PT school in 2026 to keep moving forward on my path to helping children heal, grow, and thrive.
