This week marks one year since NAHQ and Joint Commission launched our strategic alliance — a partnership rooted in elevating healthcare Quality & Safety at scale.
Over the past year, we’ve seen what’s possible when two mission-aligned organizations work together to advance a common purpose: high quality, safe, cost-effective care.
Key milestones from year one:
Strengthening the Profession
Our alliance began with Joint Commission’s endorsement of the CPHQ and the NAHQ Healthcare Quality Competency Framework. Awareness and support have been strong — with 85% of those aware already associating it with positive outcomes.
Growing the Quality Workforce
NAHQ extended CPHQ Prep resources, the CPHQ, and complimentary membership to all Joint Commission staff, contributing to 50 new CPHQs and counting and building a shared vocabulary between Joint Commission teams and the health systems they serve.
Expanding Access to Education
Together, we awarded CPHQ scholarships to 30 professionals at safety-net institutions including Cook County Health, Grady Health System, and Jackson Health — reflecting our joint commitment to strengthening care for all communities.
Raising the Visibility of Quality
Joint Commission leaders contributed to high-engagement sessions at NAHQ next and Healthcare Quality Week, and NAHQ had a strong presence at Joint Commission’s UNIFY Conference.
Looking Ahead
In 2026, we will expand CPHQ support for Joint Commission staff, continue our joint presence at NAHQ next and UNIFY, and launch the NAHQ Regulatory & Accreditation Micro-credential, powered by Joint Commission, in January.
A strong first year — and even stronger work ahead.
