Today, we shine a light on a trail-blazing activist Dr. Helen Octavia Dickens, who interned at Provident Hospital for two years while treating tuberculosis patients. Dr. Dickens would later be the first African-American woman admitted to the American College of Surgeons.

💉Tomorrow, CCDPH is providing free flu and COVID-19 shots from 8AM to 4PM at the Blue Island Health Center. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is needed. Vaccinations are available for everyone 6 months and older, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
