As a doula I love helping educate the non-chest feeding parents so they can feel confident in being equal partners and take some stress off lactating parents. There’s not a home that wouldn’t benefit from non judgmental and hands on personalized newborn care education the first couple of weeks home with a new baby.

Butter chicken and 5 day old babies! I had hoped I could get the sauce done before he woke up but he started to fuss so into the baby carrier he went to snuggle up while I finished up cooking for the whole family and cleaned up the kitchen. Mom got as much sleep as an exclusively breastfeeding mama can get and has a fridge full of delicious food to nourish her with a clean kitchen to boot!

My favorite part of the birth I just attended was mom taking my suggestion to put the Lion King soundtrack on to push. Circle of Life during the Ring of Fire phase is a great way to recenter your mind onto what exactly you’re doing this whole thing for. (Also I cried again 😅)

Note to self: get bigger jars. My first solo placenta encapsulation all done! It was a pleasure working with this incredible family and I’m so excited to deliver these capsules (and sweet umbilical cord keepsake) to this brave mama who is hopeful they will support her milk supply and mental health as she recovers from birth and starts this new chapter of motherhood.
