I was amazed at how many people do not know how to make hard boil eggs. Classic Stovetop Hard-Boiled Eggs
1. Place eggs in a pot
Single layer. Don’t stack.
2. Cover with cold water
About 1 inch above the eggs.
3. Bring to a rolling boil
High heat, uncovered.
4. Turn off heat & cover
As soon as it boils, cover the pot and remove from heat.
5. Sit and cook
• 10 minutes → fully set yolk, slightly creamy
• 11–12 minutes → fully firm yolk (true hard-boiled)
6. Ice bath
Transfer eggs to ice water for 5 minutes (stops cooking + easier peeling).
7. Peel or store
• Peel from the wide end (air pocket = easier start)
• Store unpeeled in the fridge up to 7 days
Pro Tips (CT secrets 😉)
• Add a splash of vinegar or salt to water → helps if shells crack
• Older eggs peel easier than super fresh ones
• Roll the egg gently on the counter to crack, then peel under running water
