The University of Chicago Medicine has earned its 15th “A” grade in hospital safety from the Leapfrog Group — making us one of just 41 health care providers across the country to have received consecutive top marks from the industry watchdog group. Our institution is the only one in Chicago to have earned this distinction.

Our record is a testament to this organization’s high standards and practices. Read More Here:

‘Making A Difference: It Felt Good To Be Able To Do Something’

Donnie Skelly knows the toll cancer can take on patients and their families. His wife was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2009. So when he found out about a food pantry on the 6th floor of DCAM that supports oncology patients and families, he knew he had to act. “We were there. I just couldn’t imagine having to worry about eating or where I might find my next meal. That should not be a concern.” He reached out to co-workers, friends and family outside of UCM to help raise food and funds for the pantry. Donnie and his wife took the funds raised and bought as much food as they could. Donnie’s manager, Vella Stevanovic, said he is an inspiration to the whole department and hopes others employees will follow Donnie in making a difference.
