ARTivism: Share What You Know - Drawing for Environmental Justice 🖌

Join us for an open art studio with Delilah Salgado, Chicago artist.

Participants will create artwork that shares their personal stories about how they’ve responded to environmental and climate change issues affecting their lives.

These mapping visual and narrative stories will contribute to a collective archive for the Climate and Environmental Justice Crossing Latinidades.

When: Wed. Sep. 28, 2022
Time: 1pm to 3pm CST
Where: In-Person at the Latino Cultural Center – Lecture Center B2

Supplies will be provided.

For this in-person program capacity will be limited to 24 participants and
wearing a mask is required.

Join us tomorrow at 9:30 am at Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy. We will unveil a beautiful mural by Diske Uno

The mural centers the Wixarica (Huichol) culture and healing plant medicine grown across most of the Western Hemisphere.

Thank you to students and educators of IHSCA, the Frida Community Organization, our partners Instituto Gaspar Yanga, and the support of Living La Villita Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events for helping us make this happen. We hope to see you tomorrow. Light refreshments will be served and there will be special performance by Jarochicanos & prayer in movement by Danza Azteca.

Thank you to the Chicago Botanic Garden for their support and flower donation.

City Zoning is about to change and you need to write in

There is a proposed zoning amendment that would restrict establishing cultural exhibits and the housing of museums in “R” zoning districts and require special use permits. This would affect all apartment exhibitions, exhibitions in residential neighborhood convenience stores, and retail spaces. This might also impact neighborhood museums operating outside of the museum campus.

Individuals and organizations should send letters to their alderman as well as the following:
