After 32 years of serving patients, one thing I’ve learned is that great care is never a solo act.
It takes a team.
Every day in our office there are dozens of small moments where people support each other, help each other, and work together so our patients can see clearly.
Today we took a few minutes as a team to step away from the exam rooms and have some fun together. HUMAN BINGO!
Because strong teams don’t just happen.
They’re built through trust, communication… and sometimes a little laughter.
Morning coffee is kicking in and patients are arriving.
Grateful for the team that helps Chicago see clearly every day.

WHICH IS BETTER.... ONE OR TWO?
After 32 years of examining eyes, I’ve noticed something interesting during eye exams.
When patients look through the lenses and I ask…
“Which is better… one or two?”
Sometimes they hesitate.
Not because they can’t see clearly…
…but because they’re busy comparing.
“Hmm… maybe two is sharper.”
“Wait… maybe one is better.”
But here’s the funny thing.
Neither lens is perfect.
They’re just helping us move closer to clarity.
And life can feel that way sometimes.
We spend a lot of time comparing:
Our progress.
Our careers.
Our lives.
But comparison can make things look blurrier than they really are.
In the exam chair — and in life — the goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is clarity.
Morning coffee is kicking in and patients are arriving.

So today I’ll ask you the same question I ask all day long…
“When life asks you today… which will you choose?”… one… or two?

This morning while waiting for my eggs to boil and the coffee to kick in, I looked down at this mug and laughed.

“I can’t fix stupid… but I can help you see it.”

Thirty years of being an eye doctor teaches you a few things.
You realize pretty quickly that you can’t fix every problem…
and you certainly can’t fix every decision people make.

But you can help people see things more clearly.

Sometimes that means better vision with glasses or contacts. 👓
Sometimes it just means a little perspective.
Either way, clarity can make a big difference.
Coffee is kicking in and patients are about to start arriving.
Hope everyone sees something clearly today. ☕👓

😄😭 Sometimes I look at photos of my kids when they were little dudes… and then I look at them now — grown, thriving, navigating life in their mid-twenties — and I can’t help but smile.

If you’re a parent, you know the deal:
The love, the joy, the worry, the lessons, the growth…
It never ends — no matter how old they get.

Every morning, I say a quiet prayer thanking God for trusting me with the responsibility of being a role model — for my kids, for my patients, and for the people He’s placed in my life.

And I know many parents out there are fighting hard every single day for their children’s health and future.
That’s one reason I’ve chosen, for years, to give to St. Jude’s — not for recognition, but because no parent should fight alone.

Congratulation to our Giant Stocking Winner Elena!!! Elena came into our office with her eyes on the prize. She was so eager to win the giant stocking for her family this Christmas. Between my 30 years (and counting!), Dr. Kraar’s 36 years 🙏 (Rest in Peace), and Dr. Kovulagh’s 40 years 🙏 (Rest in Peace), our clinic has proudly served this community for over 100 combined years! 💪
