Alzheimer’s Disease: A Growing Epidemic 🧠💜

Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, language, and the ability to perform daily tasks. It’s the most common cause of dementia, a term that describes symptoms like memory loss and impaired judgment. With the number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s increasing, it's more important than ever to raise awareness.

Quick Facts:

7+ million Americans live with Alzheimer’s; this could nearly double to 13 million by 2050.

1 in 9 people age 65+ has Alzheimer’s.

Women are at higher risk: 1 in 5 women vs. 1 in 10 men at age 45.

Almost 2/3 of those with Alzheimer’s are women.

Black Americans are twice as likely, and Hispanic Americans 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s compared to White Americans.

Younger people (under 65) can also develop Alzheimer’s, with an estimated 200,000 living with younger-onset dementia.

1 in 3 older Americans dies with Alzheimer’s or dementia—more than breast and prostate cancer combined.

If you or someone you know is experiencing memory issues or other symptoms, talk to a doctor. For those newly diagnosed, there are resources to help with care, support, and information on the latest research.
