The were proud to host our Second Annual Social Action Supper, and afternoon dedicated to celebrating leadership, service, and civic engagement here in Chicago.
We recognized five outstanding organizations making a real impact in our city: National Council of Negro Women (NCNW)- Chicago Section, Future Superstars NFP, Onyx 360, the National Council of 100 Black Women ( NCBW) and Principal Watson of the Mildred I Lavizzo IBMYP School. Their commitment to uplifting our communities inspires the work we all continue to do.
The highlight of the afternoon was hearing from the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, Emanuel "Chris" Welch who shared powerful insights on the road ahead for the State of Illinois and our fellow citizens. His thoughtful responses to audience questions challenged us to think deeply about the critical issues facing our communities as we approach the polls. Special thanks to Clayton Harris III who moderated the discussion.
Nearly 200 attendees left energized, informed, and ready to make their voices heard.
Democracy works best when we ALL show up.
