If you are expecting your eyeglass or contact lens order to be arriving soon, or have been contacted by IEI staff that your order is in, please contact the Eyewear Center to arrange a curbside pick up of your order. Staff are onsite during the week and can be reached at 312-949-7331. Voicemail messages will be returned by staff so please leave your contact information when you call. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these new procedures

Effective at 3pm today, March 20, 2020 all future appointments are cancelled until further notice. The IEI will be managing patient follow-up appointments through a high-level, telephone screening process. Urgent care needs will follow a similar triage program. Using these methods, put in place for the safety of our patients and providers, the IEI will continue to attend to our patients while doing our part to flatten the curve.

Patients needing to reach us during this time period should call the IEI at 312-225-6200 and make sure that they leave a call-back number and accept calls from blocked numbers to ensure that our providers can reach you.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel the Diabetic Support Group meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 18. Our next meeting of the group is, at this time, scheduled for April 15, 2020.

On Saturday, 11/16/19, the ICO campus hosted a FREE health fair for our community. We collaborated with IlliniCare Health to offer:

* Eye Screenings by the Illinois Eye Institute
* Dental Screenings by Colgate
* Health Screenings by Christian Community Health Center
* Manicures and Basic Hair Cuts by Cannella School of Hair Design
* A healthy cooking class
* Kids Corner activities
* Raffles, including a Thanksgiving turkey *

Almost 100 people attended this family-friendly event.

Yesterday was World Keratoconus Day. To spread awareness about this degenerative condition, the IEI's Cornea and Contact Lens Department is distributing free trial samples of contact lens solution. Be sure to grab some during your visit, and take a moment to learn more about keratoconus and corneal health.
