Looking for a simple, engaging activity with big developmental benefits? Featured OT, Kerry, recommends using bubbles during playtime.

Bubbles are a simple but powerful tool for development—they support visual‑motor skills as kids pop them on the wand, track them through the air, or balance to stomp them with their feet.” Kerry shares.

She also highlights how bubbles can support regulation. “They're also wonderful for calming and regulation, offering opportunities for deep breathing, watching them fall for a calming effect, or stomping them when they reach the floor to release frustration.”

It is an easy activity that supports both skill building and emotional regulation while keeping play light and fun.

Featured therapist, Kerry, shared a great tip for supporting regulation and following directions through movement.

She suggests trying simple, screen-free movement routines at home. For example, you can have your child move across different surfaces like cushions, pillows, or rolled up blankets. This kind of play helps build body awareness, motor planning, and control.

As your child moves, encourage them to go fast, slow, and “just right” to practice adjusting their speed and following directions.

These small activities can make a big difference while keeping play fun and engaging!

Our April Kids Making Headlines is Jaeden!

Jaeden has been making great progress using regulation strategies, especially during movement based activities. He has been excited to engage in playing on the swings and trying out simple obstacle courses.

Out on the playground, Jaeden is showing more confidence climbing and swinging, and is doing an awesome job sharing and taking turns with peers.

Way to go, Jaeden!
