As we close out the Trans Accountability Project, we’re proud to share the impact this work has had on our city. TAP helped facilitate thousands of conversations and hundreds of meetings to address the barriers Trans women face in Chicago.

Through this work, we came to an important understanding: while we may not always be able to dismantle transphobia and discrimination overnight, we can equip our community with the tools to navigate those barriers, advocate for ourselves, and create change from within.

We are deeply grateful for the brilliant minds who showed up and committed to this work. Thank you to everyone who has been part of TAP. Special thanks to Channyn Parker from Equality Illinois for helping put things in perspective, and a huge shoutout to CDPH and Chicago Therapy Collective for their dedication to this program and to our community.

A day in the life with Dame (they/he/she), our Ryan White Medical Case Manager at TaskForce! Through their role, they help clients navigate healthcare, access medications, and move toward long-term stability. Even in the hardest moments — like honoring a passed participant — they remain committed to showing up for our community with dignity and love.

Join us on Saturday, February 28, for free fresh produce! Please note: we’re once again hosting our monthly Farmers’ Market at TaskForce (not Laramie).

We’re grateful to the Reva & David Logan Foundation for helping make this possible and for investing in food access for our community.

Come through, grab what you need, and spend some time with us. We’ll see you there!

We’re deeply honored that TaskForce and PrEP4Teens are featured in today’s The New York Times opinion piece on HIV funding and prevention. Read the full piece now at: https://lnkd.in/gWxRCJf2.

Thank you to our Executive Director, Dr. Christopher Balthazar, for lifting up the urgent need for equitable HIV funding and prevention resources, to our Youth Engagement Specialist, Skai Underwood, for sharing the realities young q***r people face, and to Kathryn Macapagal, Prep4Teens collaborator and researcher, for her important insights on youth-centered sexual health research.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Jeneen Interlandi for representing our community with such care and respect. Working with her was a truly thoughtful and affirming experience!

This coverage highlights the real stories behind the data and the life-saving work happening in communities. We are grateful to be part of the conversation and will continue advocating for the resources all young people deserve.

After seven years, the Trans Accountability Project will be coming to an end. We want to express our gratitude to the Chicago Department of Public Health for their genuine engagement with Trans Women of Color and their efforts to address the root causes of Trans workforce development and discrimination.

If you have been a part of TAP as an alumni-scholar, we would love to invite you to our final session with Equality Illinois CEO, Channyn Lynn Parker!

Come through, be in community, and let’s celebrate!
