Background Checks, Why work with us? Our focus is on protecting your business or organization, but the bottom line is ROI.

While there are very real benefits to background screening involving personal safety and company reputation, the truth is a business owner likes to know that the expense of background checks pays off in dollars and cents. Our experience has shown us that the return on investment for the screening process is huge. In fact, you can weigh the cost of screening a new employee against every single potential downside expense and realize a profit in the balance. Consider the potential cost of:

*Discrimination lawsuits
*Workplace violence
*Employee theft
*Company scandal
*Training costs of bad hires
*Lost production

Hair Testing for a 90-Day Drug Use History

Hair Follicle Testing for drugs is the one of the only ways to get an in depth assessment of up to 90 days in the past to determine if someone has been using drugs. This is a great test for an employer or parent.
Simple specimen collection and highly accurate results that meet the same reference standards as urine testing. In addition, there are no known methods for sample adulteration (hair washing will not dilute the sample). Because specimen collection can be directly observed, the risk of adulteration is even further reduced.

We get the results back to you quicker: Negative results are reported within 24 hours of receipt at the laboratory, and positive results are confirmed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS) within 48 to 72 hours. Hair testing is also forensically defensible.

When compared with urine specimen testing, hair testing provides up to 2.5 times the number of positives and a longer detection window. Hair testing can test for the following classes of drugs:

Amphetamines (including Ecstasy)
Co***ne
Ma*****na
Opiates
Phencyclidine (P*P)

National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teens: What is He**in?

Also known as: Black tar, H, Horse, Junk, Ska, and Smack

He**in is a highly addictive drug made from morphine, a psychoactive (mind-altering) substance that is extracted from the resin of the seed pod of the o***m poppy plant. He**in’s color and look depend on how it is made and what else it may be mixed with. It can be white or brown powder or a black, sticky substance called “black tar he**in.”

He**in is part of a class of drugs called opioids. Other opioids include some prescription pain relievers, such as codeine, oxycodone (OxyContin), and hydrocodone (e.g. Vicodin). These drugs are chemically similar to endorphins, which are opioid chemicals that the body makes naturally to relieve pain (such as after exercise).

He**in use and overdose deaths have dramatically increased over the last decade. This increase is related to the growing number of people misusing prescription opioid pain relievers like OxyContin and Vicodin; many who become addicted to those drugs switch to he**in because it produces similar effects but is cheaper and easier to get.

In fact, nearly 80 percent of people who use he**in report having first misused prescription opioids. However, only a small portion of people who misuse pain relievers switch to he**in. Both he**in and opioid pill use can lead to addiction and overdose.

How He**in is Used

He**in is mixed with water and injected with a needle. It can also be sniffed, smoked, or snorted. Users sometimes combine it with other drugs, such as alcohol or co***ne (a “speedball”), which can be particularly dangerous and raise the risk of overdose.

What is prescription depressant misuse?

Also known as: A-minus, Barbs, Candy, Downers, Phennies, Red Birds, Reds, Sleeping Pills, Tooies, Tranks, Yellows, Yellow Jackets, Yellows, and Zombie Pills

Depressants, sometimes referred to as central nervous system (CNS) depressants or tranquilizers, slow down (or “depress”) the normal activity that goes on in the brain and spinal cord. Doctors often prescribe them for people who are anxious or can't sleep.

When prescription depressants are taken as prescribed by a doctor, they can be relatively safe and helpful. However, dependence and addiction are still potential risks. These risks increase when these drugs are misused. Taking the drugs to get “high” can cause serious, and even dangerous, problems.

Depressants can be divided into three primary groups: barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and sleep medications.

Bullying Hurts. You Can Help!!!

Bullying can take many forms, including:

*Physical (hitting, tripping)
*Verbal (name calling, teasing)
*Social (spreading rumors, leaving someone out of a group or activity)
*Cyberbullying (done online, or though cell phones using photos, instant messages, texts, email, etc.)

Did you know that substance use and bullying are connected? In one study, researchers found that students who bully their peers are more likely to use alcohol, ci******es, and ma*****na than students who avoid bullying. Other research has shown that kids who are bullied in fifth grade are more likely to use drugs in high school.

Addicted to Aggression?

Aggressive behavior can be physical (shoving or hitting somebody) or verbal (yelling at someone or saying something mean to them). What does a person who exhibits behavior like that have in common with someone who has a substance use disorder?

Your first guess may be, “Nothing!” They seem like completely separate problems. However, research is finding that’s not totally true.

What’s the link?

Scientists who study the brain and behavior have discovered that those who tend to be aggressive and hostile and those with substance use disorders are alike in two ways:

Both groups are likely to engage in behaviors that could hurt others or themselves—even when they know the result could be harmful.
If they stop doing those harmful behaviors, both groups can relapse (engage in the behaviors again), even if they haven’t done them for a long time.
What’s going on here? Scientists think that some people are more likely than others to develop “compulsive” (uncontrollable) aggression—and that this involves some of the same brain activity that gets disrupted with a substance use disorder. Further research into the brain could reveal why some people are more inclined than others to use drugs or to act aggressively.

Addiction is a disease

If you or someone you know or love is struggling with an addiction, the best thing you can do for them (and yourself) is to ask for help.
