Without the generosity of Kingdom Baptist Church, Trader Joe’s, Resource Nurse Staffing, NAACP membership and comminity members, we wouldn’t be able to provide winter supplies to our community!

Unfortunately,Saturday’s health fair has been postponed until February! The new date will be posted soon!

In the meantime, Chicago Westside NAACP will partner with direct service community organizations to distribute all donated items.

We are proud to celebrate Remel Terry as she steps into her new role as President of the Chicago Westside Branch NAACP. This moment reflects years of commitment, deep community roots, and leadership built through action, not titles.

For 16 years, Remel has helped shape the direction of the Branch alongside former President Karl A. Brinson, contributing her voice, strategy, and steady presence in moments that mattered most. Her service as Vice President and Political Action Committee Chair demonstrated her ability to organize, advocate, and lead with clarity and conviction.

A lifelong Westsider and trusted civic leader, Remel’s passion for Black people is not performative. It is lived, practiced, and proven. She has been thoughtfully prepared for this responsibility through mentorship and experience, and she steps into this role with a community firmly behind her.

This is leadership grounded in purpose and powered by collective support. The work continues, and the Westside is ready. ✊🏾🖤

We extend our deepest gratitude to Karl A. Brinson for his multiple decades of unwavering service as President of the NAACP Chicago Westside Branch.

His tenacity, passion, and steadfast commitment to Black Chicagoans are truly unmatched. Through challenges and triumphs, he led with courage, integrity, and an unshakable belief in his people— leaving an indelible mark on our community and this Branch.

While he leaves behind some very big shoes to fill, one thing is clear: he has thoughtfully and intentionally prepared the next generation of leadership to carry the work forward. That is the mark of a true servant leader. Leadership like this doesn’t just serve the moment — it builds legacy.
