Big news in cervical cancer screening just in time for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month!

The American Cancer Society just released updated recommendations, and for the first time ever, self-collection of vaginal samples for HPV testing is included.

This is a major step toward expanding access, breaking down barriers, and helping more people stay on top of their cervical health.

Self-collection offers a more comfortable, convenient option for those who may have delayed screening due to lack of access, time, or past negative experiences.

Staying informed is one of the most powerful ways to protect your health. Learn more about what this update means and how it can support early detection and prevention.

Here's what experts want you to know about self-collection of vaginal samples.

A new year brings new goals. If “walking 10,000 steps a day” made your list, you're already doing something great for both your mental and physical health. Just 30 minutes of moderate exercise, like a brisk walk, has been shown to help reduce the risk of certain cancers.

Movement isn't just good for your body, it’s a powerful act of prevention. Learn more https://ow.ly/98hK50XShxK

Women’s health is still misunderstood—and that misunderstanding has real consequences.

A new The New York Times article breaks down 9 common myths about women’s health, from heart attack symptoms to menopause, pregnancy, and abnormal bleeding.

One myth we want to underscore: Abnormal bleeding is not normal at any age.

As Dr. Karen Lu, President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, shares in the article, abnormal bleeding—including after menopause—can be an early sign of endometrial cancer. This type of cancer often causes symptoms in its early stages, making it highly diagnosable when women know what to look for.

One message stands out for women at every age and stage of life:

“Know your body. Know what your normal is, and trust your instincts if something is not quite right.” — Karen Lu, MD

Symptoms aren’t always obvious. And women’s concerns are still too often minimized. Knowledge and self-advocacy can lead to earlier diagnosis, better outcomes, and saved lives.

Women’s health is more than reproduction. It’s heart health. Immune health. Cancer prevention. Aging. And being believed.

Read the full article and help us dispel the myths: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/06/well/womens-health-myths.html

When it comes to heart health, immunity, reproductive health and more, misconceptions abound.
