Ahead of , we want to honor the vital role that friends and family play in the journey of a gynecologic cancer patient.
Evan’s grandmother, Meryl, was diagnosed with peritoneal and lung cancer. Reflecting on the experience providing emotional support for a loved one he said:

"Towards the end of her journey, the stress for me and my family was so high, but we all came together and made sure my grandma was at peace, which is what she deserved."

This story is a powerful reminder that support, compassion, and presence can make a lasting difference, not just for patients, but for the families who walk alongside them.

At the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, your generosity helps provide resources, education, and programs that empower families and friends to stand strong, offering love and care during life’s most challenging moments.

A gynecologic cancer diagnosis can affect many aspects of your life beyond the staging and treatment of the disease—including your sexual health and intimacy. These changes are common and valid, and it’s important to know you are not alone.

The Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) has developed a fact sheet to help guide discussions and answer questions about sexuality following treatment. Some questions you may want to ask your care team include:

How will my treatment affect my sexuality?
Will these effects be temporary?
Are there other treatment options that might lessen these effects?
Do you have suggestions about how I can cope with these changes?

Access the fact sheet and learn more about navigating sexuality and intimacy after gynecologic cancer treatment:

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month—a time to honor the compassionate care teams who bring comfort, dignity, and peace to those facing serious illness, including gynecologic cancers.

Palliative care focuses on easing symptoms, managing pain, and supporting emotional, spiritual, and practical needs—for both patients and their families. It can be provided at any stage of illness, alongside active treatment, while hospice care offers specialized support for those nearing the end of life.

We believe every woman deserves care that supports her whole self—body, mind, and spirit. Knowing that palliative care is an option can make all the difference in a patient’s comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

We’re spotlighting the people whose dedication makes a lasting difference in cancer care.

Meet Dr. Nawlo, who embodies compassion and equity in her work with oncology patients. As our population ages, the demand for patient-centered, equitable cancer care continues to grow. Dr. Nawlo’s focus on survivorship and geriatric management is driven by her belief in “putting ourselves in the patient’s shoes”—ensuring care is not only effective but deeply human.
Because of supporters like you, FWC can help doctors like Dr. Nawlo keep compassion at the center of cancer care. Your generosity powers the research, education, and resources that make this work possible.

Join us in supporting compassionate, equitable cancer care. Together, we can make a difference.

Behind every statistic is a real person with a story of strength, resilience, and wisdom.
Meet Sarah, an endometrial cancer survivor, who has two powerful pieces of advice for anyone facing a similar journey:

“Befriend your care team. Learn the names of your doctors, nurses, and staff. See them as people, and this will boomerang back to you. It makes a difference, believe me.”

“If you don’t have a healthcare background, find a friend or colleague who does and bring them to appointments. The language of cancer and the complexity of healthcare can feel like a one-two punch—you don’t have to face it alone.”

Sarah’s story reflects why the Foundation for Women’s Cancer exists: to support patients, families, survivors, and the medical community with resources, education, and research that make a life-changing difference.
You can honor survivors like Sarah by making a gift that fuels hope, advances research, and ensures no one walks this journey alone.

As we reflect on Veterans Day, we honor the brave individuals who have served our country, and recognize their evolving health care needs.

Female Veterans are the fastest-growing demographic within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and face unique health challenges, including gynecologic cancers. It’s imperative that we continue to strengthen support systems and ensure these Veterans receive the high-quality, specialized care they deserve.

At FWC, we extend our gratitude to all who have served, and encourage female Veterans to explore the cancer education and support resources available through FWC. https://ow.ly/hu3450Xm2Qg

A recent study conducted by Leger, commissioned through GSK Canada found many women don’t recognize the warning signs, or may dismiss them as something minor, until the disease has progressed just like Jennifer Pride in the article below.

That’s why increasing awareness is so important. The earlier a gynecologic cancer is diagnosed, the better the chances for successful treatment and improved outcomes.

Know the signs, symptoms, and risk factors for the different gynecologic cancers. Because knowledge truly can make the difference between early detection and late diagnosis.

A recent study conducted by Leger, commissioned through GSK Canada, asked 1,510 Canadian women various gynecological questions with nearly 60 per cent of respondents expressing uncertainty about whether gynecological cancers exhibit early warning signs.

Recognizing Caregivers During National Family Caregivers Month.
Being a caregiver is an act of strength, compassion, and love. It’s also an important role to recognize. Caregivers are essential members of the team in the fight against cancer.

Cancer affects not only the person diagnosed, but also the friends and family who stand beside them every step of the way.

At the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC), we honor all caregivers and offer resources to support you on this journey. From practical tips to emotional support, our caregiver tools are designed to help you care for your loved one, and yourself.

From patient to advocate. After her uterine cancer diagnosis, Christine became a passionate advocate for early detection, urging women to listen to their bodies and prioritize preventative care when symptoms arise.

“Sometimes these conditions go misdiagnosed because they mimic other things,” Christine explains. “I hope to meet people who have heard my story and feel like it helped them along the way.”

Christine’s experience is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is always hope—and with the right support system, so much is possible.

Honor survivors like Christine by helping us advance research, education, and awareness for all gynecologic cancers. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
